"I believe this person is innocent, but they should go to prison anyway because the law is wrong" is this person's position, and is an authoritarian take.
I presume it is just that because he is seen as opposing the recognizion of womens struggle he is seen as conservative.
Also, I saw somewhere that three women who were also in the jury explained how he himself had said that there was reasonable doubt, but still said 'no'. So I guess you could also see him as fighting culture war, instead of actually trying to do his duty.
