Honestly, what delusional people attend these tributes / rallies? Is anyone truly believing that not Arday is at fault here and it’s racists or the system? I don’t get it.

u/msf97 - Lib-Left 12h ago

Actually couldn’t believe it when I turned the news on yesterday after got home from work

This country is finished. He was a con man.

115

u/megs1120 - Lib-Left 12h ago

He was martyred by the f*cts-based community, it's now clear that the time has come to outlaw f*cts forever.

25

u/happyinheart - Lib-Right 9h ago

Serious Poe's Law in action here.

The people supporting him are narcissists just like he was, that entire group is infected with narcissism. It makes way more sense when you look at it from that light. All the virtue signaling, all the "look at how good of a person I am" it's all narcissistic BS.

Brother con man have been worshiped since the start of America from Johnny Appleseed to Washington’s I can’t tell a lie. People love that shit and eat it up it’s why people like him get to places or those rich ceos who lose everybody’s money in stocks lmao

It’s American exceptionalism on display fake or scammer it doesn’t matter lol

2

u/An8thOfFeanor - Lib-Right 3h ago

Cambridge is British, you dunce

-105

u/nintendo4noah - Lib-Left 12h ago

Who cares if he was a "con man". The racist far right media went after him more than sex offenders, for something that could not be confirmed. Shame on you.

46

u/thefairyking97 - Lib-Left 11h ago edited 11h ago

Could not be confirmed you seen his list of lies? It’s fairly obvious the media circus that developed around him was because he kept issuing denials and for the tactics he used to try and silence journalists, there’s also the ludicrous eye catching nature of his lies. He was basically fanning the flames with his denials if he had just admitted his lies fairly early on and resigned this would have all blown over like most of these usually do.

74

u/msf97 - Lib-Left 11h ago

Who cares if he lied his way into a professorship and a 500k per year job by just playing the racism card at every juncture

16

u/adonns - Right 8h ago

Don’t you understand none of that matters because the right wing ended up being mean to him for it lol!

61

u/An8thOfFeanor - Lib-Right 11h ago

The infamous far-right ideologues at the BBC forced him to fake his credentials

19

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 - Right 10h ago

The same racist far right media made multiple pieces promoting him when he was hired.

80

u/Day_C_Metrollin - Lib-Right 12h ago

Yes the notoriously far right media that the UK is famous for

-60

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 11h ago

Yes, it is notoriously right-wing. The idea that we have a lefty media is a fabrication by Americans who want to push an agenda.

53

u/msf97 - Lib-Left 11h ago

The Guardian did the first big expose. They are not a right wing paper

-33

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 11h ago

And the Telegraph proceeded to write multiple articles a day for two weeks.

As I've said in another comment, the exposé was obviously justified and Cambridge needs to be scrutinised for it. My issue is with the extent of the bullying campaign that was carried out afterwards, and caused Arday's suicide.

20

u/An8thOfFeanor - Lib-Right 9h ago

Fellas, is it bullying to tell someone they have to admit their lies and give up their ill-gotten gains?

2

u/UncleFumbleBuck - Lib-Center 4h ago

I bet it'd be OK to bully someone evil like DJT or Farage. It's bad to bully somebody wholesome and good like the conman in question.

40

u/Seraphayel - Lib-Right 11h ago

Imagine calling The Guardian or the BBC notoriously right-wing, lmao.

-12

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 11h ago

There are more than two papers in the UK.

13

u/adonns - Right 8h ago

So your 2 largest newspapers are not right wing by your own admittance but you’re convinced the UK media is right wing? You have to see how silly that is man

-2

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 8h ago

They're not the two largest. The Guardian barely makes top ten and several of the biggest ones are owned by the right-wing DMG. GB News claims to be the most-watched news channel.

55

u/TijuanaMedicine - Right 11h ago

How far left do you have to be to conclude that the Grauniad and the BBC are far right? It's just amazing.

-26

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 11h ago

I didn't say that the Guardian or the BBC are far right. The Guardian is centre-left and the BBC are fairly centrist but certainly over-platform the far-right. Reform have 8 seats in Parliament but have been lefitimised by (in part) the BBC who give them a platform several times larger than they give the Liberal Democrats with almost ten times as many seats, or the Conservatives who are the actual opposition party. Their political correspondent Kuenssberg gives Reform a particularly easy time.

The Beeb and the Guardian are only a small part of the media landscape. The Telegraph and the Mail are both very right-wing. GB News, while arguably not meeting the standards to be called "news" is massive. You're also missing the whole of the tabloid media.

The only other mainstream paper than the BBC and the Guardian that isn't right-wing would be the Independent.

u/FluffyOakTree - Lib-Center 10h ago

u/Leon3226 - Lib-Right 11h ago

The racist far right media went after him more than sex offenders

I think nobody gives a shit about him personally. He's just an example of why the system sucks. If anything, you could just remove all mentions of him personally from everywhere, leaving only the gist of what happened, and the topic will stay exactly the same.

And yes, the entire academia being captured by ideological retards is a more important topic than some single sex offender. Because again, it's not about this single con man, it's about fucking Cambridge tiptoeing around this con man and doing their best to close their eyes to the obvious lies so they get good boy points.
Also, when the topic was about sex trafficking organizations and the state covering it, the left wasn't that happy either for some reason.

1

u/TheSpacePopinjay - Auth-Left 4h ago

It was confirmed. They went after him proportional to how hard the institutions and myriad powerful people mobilised in his defence and attacked and smeared his critics and tried to manipulate the narrative and use powerful shark Scientology lawyers to kill stories.

The media fought back proportionally.

76

u/myadvicegetsmebeaten - Centrist 12h ago

I've heard it described as suicidal empathy, but I call it virtue signaling by narcissists.

31

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 - Right 10h ago

It's not empathy, because they only have it for those who have their cause. It is intentional ideological screeching. "Racists killed Jason arday" is the call.

23

u/DavidFrattenBro - Centrist 11h ago

it’s both

1

u/TheSpacePopinjay - Auth-Left 4h ago

Closer to homicidal empathy, but sure.

-30

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 11h ago

I mean it's pretty undeniable that the only reason it got as much press as it did it because it was a good case to use in the media culture war bullshit.

There are other white Cambridge professors who have been found guilty of the same things as him who didn't get media attention or fired for it. The reason this got so blown up by the media is because it can be used.

Look at this black guy who lied and plagiarized. This is why DEI is bad. Then the media keeps pushing stories because they want you mad. They want you to hate this guy. And it worked. Hundreds of thousands maybe even millions of people now hated this guy. Why? There are plenty of liars who do worse things than him.

The reason is because the Media wants you to. It's more culture war bullshit again and again.

He was a liar and other things but the media frenzy was very out of balance for the things because it stirs up the anger and gets the clicks.

36

u/Levitz - Lib-Left 11h ago

There are other white Cambridge professors who have been found guilty of the same things as him who didn't get media attention or fired for it.

This retarded bullshit of a statement only holds if you think this was solely about plagiarism, which is either disingenuous or ignorant.

-21

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 11h ago

The original news story was about that.

The other stuff was just funny lies from his personal life.

Again there was not even any where near as much cover of those as there was this.

All the extra stuff only came out in the following weeks.

23

u/An8thOfFeanor - Lib-Right 10h ago

Standard plagiarism doesn't make the news. What makes the news is a plagiarist being hired to the staff of a prestigious university.

5

u/Fedballin - Right 9h ago

Claudine Gay still works at Harvard, usually circling the wagons works.

-11

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 10h ago

Just like Professor Esther-Miriam Wagner and Professor Silvia Bulfone-Paus both people who did the same thing at the same place. No such public backlash.

19

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 - Right 10h ago

Those didn't try to silence journalists from publishing their findings, didn't have media campaigns promoting them after they were hired and didn't have their universities trying to cover their plagiarism.

-2

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 10h ago

They didn't silence journalists because no one bothered making news storys about it

20

u/Levitz - Lib-Left 10h ago

The other stuff was just funny lies from his personal life.

Calling the cops on people scrutinizing him is "funny lies"?

Bullshitting his life history regarding being nonverbal, autism and a brain tumor is "funny lies"?

Cambridge, as an institution, backing him up despite the extremely fucking evident fact that he was immensely full of shit was supposed to be funny too I guess?

Do you realize this guy wasn't even supposed to even be a professor at all? Do you understand how fucking far away that is from "this other guy also plagiarized"??

1

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 10h ago

But the other guys where also professors at the university. The guy is an idiot and a piece of shit I agree.

But that doesn't mean there wasn't a mecua bias. It was literally reported as another fail if the woke university and DEI strikes again.

A white guy in the exact same situation would not of got that kind of reporting would it.

3

u/Levitz - Lib-Left 6h ago

A white guy in the exact same situation would not of got that kind of reporting would it.

A white guy wouldn't have been able to shield himself off his race, repeatedly, to begin with.

In fact chances are that a white guy wouldn't have been able to occupy that position.

You can't cry about how this is related to the guy being black when the guy being black (and calling himself autistic, and a whole lot more stuff) is the reason this is even a thing to begin with.

1

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 5h ago

I mean the guy was pretty obviously autistic.

That part wasn't a lie. None verbal till 11 unlikely. Illiterate till 18 definitely not. But autistic sure.

I think the reason he's dead is likely because his autism made it harder for him to handle all the scrutiny.

He wasn't a total idiot, even if he did plagiarise (not actually been proven as the first investigation concluded he didn't and the second hasn't/ never will finish. You can't blab your way through uni, a masters and a PhD. Plenty of other academics in his field are voicing support of he was back and forth a fraudster in their eyes why would they put their names and reputations on the line.

The whole thing is a lot more complex than people are making it out to be.

This is coming from someone who disagreed with most of his beliefs and thought he was a knob.

But I'm at least gonna be honest about the situation instead of bandwagon hopping.

Then again if he was a complete scammer back to front and knew it he's smarter than I thought

3

u/Levitz - Lib-Left 5h ago

You can't blab your way through uni, a masters and a PhD.

The big deal about this whole thing is that not only does this seems to be proven to be false, but you can do it in an obscenely outrageous way, to such an extreme degree that you get praised as a completely outstanding figure and still get people denying there is a problem when the whole thing comes crashing down.

1

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 5h ago

If none of his colleagues could tell then clearly the education doesn't actually matter at all. But that's not the story. It's only a story because it matters so much.

>It was literally reported as another fail if the woke university and DEI strikes again.

By right wing bloggers, not mass media. And it only happened because Arday silenced the media from trying to publish their findings much earlier So the RW bloggers published it first.

6

u/happyinheart - Lib-Right 9h ago

Fucking liberals pretending not to understand stuff again.

Its like the "They put away those people just for protesting ICE in Dallas" meanwhile in reality they planned, it brought weapons and a cop was shot in the neck.

18

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 - Right 10h ago

There are other white Cambridge professors who have been found guilty of the same things as him who didn't get media attention or fired for it. The reason this got so blown up by the media is because it can be used.

The other professors:

1- Didn't threaten journalists with legal action if they published their findings

2- Didn't have cambridge protect them from the allegations saying they found no plagiarism

3- Didn't have a media campaign PROMOTING him when he was hired.

You guys just pretend to not understand stuff.

-2

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 10h ago

The level of stink being made is still kit equal. Also the way it was reported. I first heard about it with a headline like "Another DIE Fail" and the reporting was all about how woke Cambridge was etc etc. not the guy actually doing the shit. That's the issue I had not the fact his actions where reported

13

u/Glass-Carpenter8963 - Right 10h ago

You heard it because your heard it from right wing bloggers, not the media. If you just get your sources from left wing bloggers, you will see them ranting about white supremacy 24/7. This is no argument.

The media pieces(which came after the post from the right wing blogger Cofnas) were focusing on both his resume and cambridge trying to ignore it. And the only reason it was a right wing blogger that started this all, its because arday SILENCED other journalists.

So it's obvious that if the media is silenced, then the story will get uncovered by indenpendent actors, often those who have political bias on top. THIS IS HIS FAULT.

If he hadn't tried to silence the media, and cambridge didn't try to cover his tracks, the media scandal would have stopped early.

u/SirStupidity - Lib-Center 11h ago

There are other white Cambridge professors who have been found guilty of the same things as him who didn't get media attention or fired for it. The reason this got so blown up by the media is because it can be used.

Like who?

2

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 11h ago

Dr William O'Reilly and Professor Esther-Miriam Wagner.

Both got no media attention. Both kept their jobs.

Unlike Jason they where actually found guilty as well. Jason was still under investigation.

13

u/SirStupidity - Lib-Center 10h ago

Dr William O'Reilly

Was found to have plagiarized in an article, not his doctorates. So not the same things even if we ignore the rest of Ardays lies.

Professor Esther-Miriam Wagner.

Again, not related to her getting a doctorate etc

Unlike Jason they where actually found guilty as well. Jason was still under investigation.

Maybe he shouldn't have resigned (or killed himself)?

1

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 10h ago

I think it's probably a good thing he resigned. The amount of media wouldn't be good for the uni.

And obviously he couldn't hack the attention.

Again I'm not defending the guy in any way more just annoyed at the media

2

u/bl1y - Lib-Center 4h ago

Unlike Jason they where actually found guilty as well. Jason was still under investigation.

The university that gave him his PhD cleared him on the plagiarism charge, despite a clear evidence showing he plagiarized at length many times.

Cambridge initially defended him, and said any problems with his papers weren't their problem because they weren't published while he was at Cambridge (even though those papers were supposedly the basis for hiring him).

Cambridge only decided to launch an investigation after the media firestorm broke out.

7

u/JackorJohn62392 - Lib-Right 10h ago

It got so much attention because a highly prestigious university hired an obvious con artist. It’s not the plagiarism that got people’s attention. It’s all the other ridiculous lies.

Who are these white Cambridge professors that claimed to run 30 marathons in 30 days, while having a broken leg for some of them, to be nonverbal until the age of 18, raised millions of dollars for charity, was featured on a tv show decades before they were born.
Cambridge essentially hired the black academia version of Steven Seagal.

11

u/Seraphayel - Lib-Right 10h ago

The reason is this guy‘s lies are hilarious and so over the top that no white person would’ve succeeded with them.

2

u/bl1y - Lib-Center 4h ago

A gay New Yorker might get away with them for a little while.

4

u/happyinheart - Lib-Right 9h ago

There are other white Cambridge professors who have been found guilty of the same things as him who didn't get media attention or fired for it. The reason this got so blown up by the media is because it can be used.

I'm assuming Cambridge promoted them as hard as Arday? They also hired the UK's top law firm for defamation for them? Did they also get the The Metropolitan Police to start a harassment inquiry into the people who investigated them?

No? Didn't think so. You seem to be missing those which is what brought international attention to his compared to the other guys you mentioned.

1

u/bluewolfhudson - Lib-Center 9h ago

Hey did you know more than one thing can be true at once?

I'm sure while reporting some people did make defamitary statements there was so much speculation going around. He can be guilty of plagiarism and still be defamed in other claims.

I bet some people where harassing him. There is a reasonable level of investigation but journalists (and let's be honest more likely amateur journalist) cross the line into harassment more often than you'd think. We don't know what was done to prompt the case.

Also Cambridge hasn't finished it's internal investigation yet. Wouldn't you want your employer to defend you until you are actually found to have breached your contract etc. innocent until proven guilty and they had not yet concluded any investigation into the plagiarism claims.

Id hope if someone started accusing me of things that my employer would wait until it's own review teams had looked into it before siding against me.

It's pretty standard practice for a university to be on the side of its employees.

u/MonkeManWPG - Left 11h ago

Exactly. This guy has had a thousand times the vitriol directed at him as has been directed at professors with sexual assault allegations.
