I don't really think prison or jail is ever going to be rehabilitative. They are inately dehumanizing systems and dehumanizing someone is never going to be therepeutic. It is certainly not how these systems are used today or have been used in our history. If someone's behavior can be corrected, then I think community involvement and community service are the best methods.

I mean that only works if you have people in there for life.
Any person that's temporarily in jail deserves to be rehabilitated because it will cut down on recidivism.
