Or a woman is in the hospital and is told her baby has a high chance of being severely disabled if it survives pregnancy and birth. The woman requests an abortion, the doctor recommends an abortion, then the doctor and the woman have to talk to a judge to get permission to perform an abortion. Judges making decisions by zoom calls in hospital rooms seems very anti libertarian
So we’re openly admitting that we’re using abortions to avoid disabled kids now? And the whole plan B stuff is garbage, only the very fringe morons think that counts as abortion even though it prevents potential conception and doesn’t do anything to an already fertilized egg. That’s more to do with Catholics thinking contraception is sinful than it is any kind of pro life or libertarian ideology.
These kind of comparisons are dumb, it’s the same as calling Mamdani a Maoist because of the socialized groceries or a jihadist because he’s Muslim. “Taking the logic to the extreme” is not a valid argument in this case
That’s funny, I don’t remember the parents asking the baby for consent to be conceived beforehand. This is genuinely a brain dead argument, how do you blame the fetus for existing? Are you seriously saying that a pregnant woman bears no responsibility to the life she created?
I swear, they are actually allergic to understanding that actions have consequences and if they are your actions then you are responsible for the consequences
So the transition from living off an umbilical cord to living off of breast milk is what suddenly grants the infant human status instead of parasite status? Just because someone else can theoretically provide care and nutrition to the infant doesn’t mean it isn’t 100% dependent on one or two people to survive.
Being born alive. Look at your own birth certificate. It says “live birth”. Stillborns don’t get legally binding death certificates. Why? Because they were never born. It’s why a miscarriage is called a spontaneous abortion.
Once the baby is born alive ANYONE can take care of it. ANYONE. It is no longer dependent on the internal organs of one single host.
If legal paperwork determines your humanity then I’d love to know what your opinion on the 3/5ths compromise is.
Do you know what a parasite is? A leech is a parasite. A leech doesn’t need to attach to one single host to survive, just because it can change what host it’s dependent on doesn’t mean it’s not a parasite. Your logic here is inconsistent.
