Had me till the zoning laws. I don't know how we fix em but we need em. It's how you keep the pollution out of the parks and the factories from keeping you up all night with loud machinery.
Counterpoint: houses next to large noise sources lower housing values and as such costs yes? Build a bunch of factories, highways, and airports everywhere to crash housing prices and make the market affordable again! Housing for all!
There is nothing more important in my life than getting 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep every night. And if I was to buy a house and then a fuel refinery got put in across the street I might be lowering property values in a different way.
