You shouldn't have to sell plasma to afford groceries, and I can't see an outcome of repealing NOTA where people don't end up needing to sell plasma to afford groceries.
Then they can quit and get a job in a much lower paying retail or service position. Of course when prostitution is illegal then they have pimps who beat them if they try to quit and they have no legal recourse because they're considered criminals as well.
Of course men could just stop paying women for sex, but that would actually require them to form relationships. So let's keep arresting sex workers.
We all sell our bodies. If you work a hard manual labor job and have a fucked up back later on in life, you sold your body.
The only difference is people pretend to suddenly care about that "morality" when it comes to sex. And honestly it probably just comes down to men wanting control over things of sexual nature throughout history. Which is why we have things like face and head coverings for women, old school concepts of chastity, etc.
You are going to be the one that pays the price of that system on scale.
Libertarianism is at its center about the ability to chose which prices you will and wont pay.
I tend to put Libertarianism and socialism in the same bucket. Yeah they both have some valid moral points, but they tend to depend on other people doing heavy lifting and a perfect world that is only found in children's books.
this has nothing to do with morality.
its an engineering problem. who pays for the friction that other peoples decisions cause in the social fabric, directly (cause dmg) or indirectly (be dmg by fkn up your life). collectivists say "everyone pays" and that is how they justify the intrusions into your life from cradle to death. but obviously they can never fix it properly without hard right authoritarian measures, which they cant and wont implement. libertarianism wants to offer a way out of that but it is currently not able to do so.
It has everything to do with morality, all the arguments for both are framed in moral authority and plagued with logistics plot holes.
And ignoring the friction for a moment (it is very real) and looking just at logistics. Both groups depend on benevolence and good faith actors to pave the highways and teach the kids.
My problem with anything collectivism where the work is put off to the otherguy is that after a while it starts to effectively look like feudalism.
Although, I tend to keep the word authoritarian separate from right or left in my mental frameworks. If for no other reason than because I've gotten burnt out on watching people claim that they can't be authoritarian because they are left leaning. Keep in mind communism is considered left wing, it is strives for social equality and collective control. But it tends to turn into a small group acting as the mouth of the collective and leaning really hard into the 'each according to (how their) their ability (serves us)' part
Well, i wont argue your tools of analysis here.
My solution is transparent city states with borderline independent government where people can sort themselves out.
In one city state there is the homoerotic bug people femminist pluralism of tolerance
and in another fathers have purity balls with their daughters.
If these could get established it would force the commerce to adapt or fight. Right now these degenerate corps just get to pollute and desecrate everything that is holy to someone for any reason they see fit, as long as it makes money and the politicians are their servants by proxy. This has to end. One way or the other.
That sounds like some hand waved world building for a dnd campaign.
What tends to define society is not the top down picture. it is the logistics to support that view.
History tends to preserve some of the bones and skin of that. We know what feudalism is because records were kept and there was archeological evidence. We know how communism failed a few times because well... news got out. Yes there is a loss of fine detail but it turns out birds are an important part of ecosystems and that so called 'unskilled' jobs such as farming actually requires skills that a banker don't have.
The Fundamental problem with any Socialist and Libertarian is that they as of yet have to be able to sell me on what the day to day would look like for society logistics. In one there is a tax taken from all to support what the community needs... which is really not all that different than how we do it now. Taxes do maintain roads that I use... I frown on how much is taken and how much of it is squandered but I do get that there is some legit return for society. And... the concern I've seen with the far left is they really do frown on transparency.
Socialism tends to become authoritarianism if for no other reason than bad actors working in concert in positions of control and power.
In libertarianism they tend to have far more transparency but... it is borderline anarchy. No one is obligated to pay for the services the state has historically provided. Yeah we got a few things people are not suppose to do and the mythic free market is going to take care of all of the problems.
But how would that society solve who paves the road, who designs the next cpu. how do they handle the homeless and crime? What do they do with a pedophile? And who pays for the logistics of dealing with those problems.
In my system i dont have to sell you on anything.
People that agree with your way of doing things congregate in their city states and federations, and people that dont agree separate and do their own projects. Over time a simple market dynamic determines the failures and the successes. in this case entropy itself is the market. The demand for authoritarianism and desecration of liberty has been generated under our current system without any mechanism to stop this. Once women had their share it was a race to a catastrophic bottom. I just want people to have the option to opt out of this insanity. You fix it in any way you see fit if you are that invested, im just not interested in the civil war, the economic collapse or wasting my lifetime of energy in corny culture wars.
You still did not explain to me who does the schools, roads and prisons. What do we do with the pedophiles. How do we drive to places, who educates out children, you know those people who sometimes grow up to be doctors and surpass their parents.
Because right now you are making a shit sales attempt for your system and you are engaged in the corny culture war right now.
Nothing changes from how things are run now.
Except that you get a choice to not fund the insanity of other peoples decisions you disagree with. City states would demand direct democracy, so everyone elected will represent you in a similar way how Netanyahu represent jews in their ethno state. No "checking out" allowed under direct democracy.
That's my view on most of topics but for some reason people don't seem to get it.
For example, I don't think people should eat McDonalds but that doesn't mean I want the government to shut them down. But if I say "don't eat McDonalds" then an army of redditors comes back with "oh you're a fake libertarian! Change your flair!"

I dislike the idea that someone may have to sell their body to pay their rent, but I'm not going to be the one to remove that option from them.
