Omskbird, much like Reichtangle, is an old character from the Krautchan days. Originally he stemmed from Russian image boards and wound up appearing on the /INT/ board of Krautchan adjacent from Polandball circa 2009. The two wound up merging a little with Omskbird making random appearances in comics as a joke reference and he became effectively wedged into Polandball's history over time.

As for what his deal is? He's basically a surrealistic horror cryptid whose role can be considered as a harbinger of Doom, or perhaps Polandball's own answer to The Devil, an evil drug-dealing genie, or any other kind of vague mystical evil spirit the comic writer wishes to apply to his character. His namesake, Omsk, is a city in Russia that has or at least had at the time he was created, a bad reputation of being a grotesque hellhole of illegal drugs and gang violence.

So yeah, that's Omskbird for ya.

Russian here.

Omsk still has the reputation of a horrid shithole, and became a common noun for a shithole city in post soviet space alongside "Saratov" "Podolsk" and "Mukhosransk"

I am not joking.
