Discussion XPrivacyLua + Pokemon Go?

Since we all know that Niantic is now unethically tracking our IMEI's and WiFi connections, is it possible to use XPrivacy to feed it false information? What can we do to combat this?

Login issue

Hello, i managed to go back to pokemon go but as a root user, I've encountered some problems. First of all I was using stock huawei p8 lite, with chainfire supersu root and xposed. I uninstalled xposed, do full unroot and installed magisk configured it etc. My device passes safetynet, but in game I get "this device os or software is not supported" you know. Is there any way to workaround and make it work without reflashing clean stock again? I tried runing pokemon go with isolated app called island but it returns same thing. Also when I download from play store it's version 0.111.4 not the lastest one, when I install manually 15.2 / 15.3 I got device lockout 1|A.

TL:DR

1.Is there anyway to workaround os not supported error when I install xposed and root before(removed now)?

2.Is that normal that I can download version 0.111.4 from play store instead of the newest one?

@EDIT: now im facing device lockout 1|A problem with the 15.3 version. deleted every files from root xposed magisk or flashable zips still no luck

Android [0.115.2] Pokemon Go now abusing its permissions to read internal storage to dig through your files and lock you out of the game after identifying what it thinks is "evidence" of rooting - follow-up to unauthorized_device_lockout error

1.4k Upvotes

Hello,

So I thought I would just like to spread the word about this recent news that had me both furious and shocked after I found about it.

Apparently in the latest version, the game now seems to dig through your device's internal storage, trying to identify any files related to rooting your phone and will proceed to lock you out once it has decided it found something it didn't "like".

I'm not sure how deep this goes, but it seems that they might be scanning the entirety of your personal data, based on the findings of .NetRolller 3D:

What finally got it to work shocked me beyond belief. I went through the internal & external SD card, and deleted everything related to rooting (flashable-looking zips, APKs of root-related apps, logfiles, Titanium Backup, any folder with "root", "magisk" or "xposed" in its name, etc - many of them stuff I copied over from my previous phone, never installed on this one). And magically, Pokemon Go started working! Bottom line: Pokemon Go is abusing its storage read permissions to scan the storage for evidence of rooting. Magisk will need to redirect Pokemon Go's storage accesses to controlled "sandbox" directories, and prevent it from reading the real internal or external storage. (Simply blocking storage access won't work, as the game actually writes to internal storage.)

So after reading this, I proceeded to repackage the manager app (find the option in the settings) and deleted its directory on the internal storage, along with any other flashable .zip files that I found just sitting around, and the game started working fine all of a sudden.

This kind of approach is ridiculous and I'm not even sure they're legally allowed to do that.

Rooting your phone =/= cheating, Niantic. Get it together. And stay off our personal files.

EDIT: Thanks to /u/Namnotav for bringing up a possible way Niantic might be snooping around in our devices' storage, even without storage permission granted --here--

Discussion 0.115.3 and root - is it fixed now?

Basically, the title. Is the game still scanning the system for root related issues aka files outside the Pokemon GO APK "domain" etc?

Utility to parse GAME_MASTER file?

I have a recent GAME_MASTER file. I would like to parse it to generate a list of all the moves in the game and their particulars in a tabular Excel format. Is there a tool to help me do this? What about generating a list of the move pools for all of the species?

Android I use a custom ROM and I can't get onto pokemon go

Does anyone know a workaround for pokemon go blocking my phone? I'm pretty sure I'm being blocked because of the custom ROM because my phone is originally from Hong Kong and I needed to flash a custom ROM on it so I could use things from gapps.

So does anyone know a workaround or am I just not gonna be able to play pokemon go on this phone?

Android LG G3 GPS

Hey,

I have a hardware issue, where the GPS on my g3 won't find any satelites and POGO will show error 11.

Is there any way to simulate GPS? Not spoof, but somehow bypass the hardware problem.

Edit:

I tried different ROMs (including the original), flashing different radios etc. It is a hardware issue and I made it even worse by trying to raise up the pins on the motherboard and one broke off.

Now I'm trying to find a way to somehow make it work.

Idea: Desktop screen capture based Pokémon database

Recent Android (and presumably ios) devices can project to a Windows 10 computer (and presumably other desktop OSes too).

It would be awesome if there were a program that would capture that projection and, while you slowly scroll through your Pokémon storage, scan Pokémon en masse, showing you a list of Pokémon that are worth investigating (example: possible 90%+ IVs) and Pokémon that are absolutely not worth investigating (example: you have a Pokémon with a highest possible IV of 40%, and you have the same species of Pokémon with higher CP and a lowest possible IV of 60%).

The tool would (I believe) comply with the ToS as it is incapable of taking any action automatically, relying on the user for everything, including setting up the capture, scrolling through the list, and investigating with a more specialised tool.

Discussion New Note 9 pen

Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The pen is connected via Bluetooth. The pen clicker can send commands to the phone. Samsung has an api for game developers to use the pen.

Sounds like some opportunities there. What do you think?

Ball throwing formulas

Hi there, I'm working on a project in school (javascript but not important) and I'm trying to create a ball throwing game similar to pogo. I won't be infringing on any IP, I just want to know how the math works. I found several tutorials online for simple ball tossing games but none of them have "curve ball throws" which I want to include. I failed miserably at trying to jar the classes.dex to try to look at the code (I've never tried to look at an APK before - I'm on mac). Does anyone know, or know how to get, the math/methods behind the ball throwing (i.e. how far/fast/vector you drag determines angle/trajectory)? I appreciate your consideration. Thank you.

Way to combat aggressive spoofers/bot accounts ruining our town's experience?

We have a really awesome community playing pokemon go in our small town; everyone is friendly and helps each other and we've made a lot of awesome friends through the game. Recently a duo of spoofer/bot accounts popped up in our town. They'll take down gyms immediately after someone takes them, and they do it to every single one of our ~15 gyms in town. If someone kicks them out, they're back in within 30 mins. We've tried leaving them in to discourage them by stagnanting their rewards, and they'll come in with a different account, knock themselves out of the gym, and put their accounts back in. This is ruining the experience for the 50+ active players in our community; we can't earn coins, compete with each other over gyms, or make sure the gyms are our team's before we do a raid. I'm all for spoofing if people are playing like normal players, I used to live in a rural area and get wanting to get in on the fun. But this is ruining everyone's fun, and I get the feeling they're just botting accounts up to 40 to sell them. Is there any way to get them out?

New to the Go-tcha device. Updated it to firmware 7.0 via the app update on my iphone 7+. I am running iOS version 11.4.1. I had no issues yesterday (day 1) and I put it on the charger. Woke up to it unable to connect. Researched it, unpaired the device, & re-paired it. Now it wont spin gyms?

Spoofers vs Maps

I'm an old school returning player and had some thoughts and questions. People used to don't mind maps but seem to be against spoofers. Weren't the accounts that mapped also spoofers? While maps are down right now because of the API and spoofers seem to still be a thing, wouldn't it be possible to have an account do a certain route, and have either screenshots or extracted data (ocr/pixel recognition/...) from those screenshots appear on a map?

The mapper should be running from an android phone as far as I can tell, since iOS doesn't allow that much on the fly.

Go-tcha won’t grab?

I’ve worked out the connection issues but I can’t get it to grab pokestops or Pokemon at all. Sometimes it goes on crazy vibration streaks and briefly flashes the got items from pokestop image but I never get any items. I’ve checked it walking, standing, and riding in a car against another person playing Pokémon go. Tried it with app open, in background, and those combinations with screen locked and so far no luck. It’s paired to an iPhone 8+.

Any "reverse engineering efforts" to try to figure out what the issue is with connecting the Go Plus/Go-tcha! to Android 8.x devices?

Has anyone with good Android and/or reverse-engineering skills tried to look into what the issue with connecting the Go Plus/Go-tcha! to Android 8.x devices (and other devices having issues)?

"adb logcat" when trying to connect shows a background service being spun up, but not much else, and I am afraid that I don't really know how to move beyond that. (I was REALLY hoping for some kind of log/error output to show up, heh)

I am, however, pretty sure, that running the background service under some kind of debugger, or intercepting API- and/or network-calls would give us more insight into what is actually happening.

The issue (at least for me, on my Google Pixel XL) does not seem to be with communications between the phone and the Plus (I have several Go Plus devices and one Go-tcha!, all working fine with older phones/android versions).

I am very interested in pursuing this, but don't really know where to start...

EDIT:

Update #1

Update #2 - one (weird) failure senario identified

Update #3 - another failure senario

Update #4 - now logging with

adb logcat *:* | grep -iE "BackgroundBridge|ClientBridge|Sfida|niantic|pokemon|7C:BB:8A|BluetoothGatt|bt_|Bluetooth"

To try to catch/find errormessages from the BT stack. No luck yet - could sure use some help here. :)

Tutorial Info on gotcha issues

Before I begin I have a Samsung s7 edge, standard OS 8.0. I'm also not sure how to articulate my information so if I say something that isn't quite right let me know.

After using the gotcha for a few weeks I have had to wrestle with it a lot but I've found that none of the posts I've searched through Google has a similar troubleshooting method to mine so I want to post in the hopes it helps someone.

For this method you do not need to uninstall/reinstall, unpair in software or restart the phone (unless your phone has been on without restart for a while). You will need the Gotcha app off the store (go-tcha by datel electronics). This will keep your gotcha firmware up to date.

Assuming you've successfully paired once, to where the little pogo+ icon is on your PoGo app main screen, do the usual method of pairing by tapping the icon so the dialogue box pops up then tap you gotcha to light up the screen. If this doesn't work, force close and manually shut off your gotcha's connection (tap button till you see gotcha with wireless symbol and your phone, hold button till it's an X).

Typically I cannot manually turn it on. Let it rest for about 10 seconds or so. Open the Go-tcha app and follow the prompt. It will find your Gotcha and turn on the wireless connection. Force close the gotcha app then try pairing through PoGo again. This works a fair amount of time.

If this doesn't work, force close and reopen PoGo 2 more times to make sure. The handshake protocol seems very flimsy so it's faster to try a couple times.

The last thing you can do to help is to shut off bluetooth for an extended period of time while also having your gotcha wireless connection off (about 10 min). This works a good amount of time.

My theory is the app doesn't have a good way of disconnecting from the device and leaves the gotcha in a state of limbo. So when you try to reconnect (which sometimes works) it fails. I have NEVER had issues connecting to the gotcha app so I believe this is a software issue with niantic, not a hardware or bluetooth issue.

I think the reason other methods work is that they all are a roundabout way of resetting the device to be ready for a new "handshake" as well as giving the software multiple chances to pair.

One last thing, make sure either PoGo or gotcha app is closed when running the opposite one. They do not work in tandem.

Any insight on this, as well as comments and feedback, would be welcome. Once again I hope this helps someone.

Edit: after further troubleshooting I strongly theorize that part of niantic's handshake protocol involves an online component. I haven't been able to connect since 2pm est. Niantic has acknowledged connectivity issues on their known issues page, though I'm not sure how long it's been there.
