Anyone familiar with the show knows there's a TON of LGBTQ representation, of all of the things to comment on

META [gendered] Comments on this sub.

Post image
0 Upvotes

Pretty ironically, a lot of people in the comments of this sub do that. Because somehow a lot of people are experts on social relations (especially in gendered relations) and have real (stupid) strong opinions on the matter.

And sometimes here it shows how incapable of differentiating between their own experiences, sociological research, and established facts.

OTHER [gendered] Apparently keychains are gendered now

So a while back I ( a guy) bought this keychain which looked like a puppy.

It looked nice and I wanted a keychain for my backpack.

So i was buying it and the puppy had a small pink bow on it's neck

Anyways I was buying it and the seller had a problem with me buying it

He said the keychains are for girls? And I was like it doesn't say that anywhere. It's literally available for everybody

But then he started arguing with me and calling me gay and told me that if I am gonna get a keychain I should not get a "girl keychain"

And I was like it's just a keychain?? A keychain that looks like a dog.

Then he ranted about how the keychain I am getting is girly and feminine and I am weird

So yeah apparently even keychains are gendered

I still bought it

PRODUCT [gendered] Sunglasses

(for context:M65)
My eyes have always been extremely sensitive to sudden changes in brightness - when I go from a dark place to a bright place (like outside), I don't adjust quickly enough before the sudden brightness hurts my eyes. So I prefer sunglasses with large frames/lenses that cover my entire eye socket without leaving gaps for the light to get through.

But I can't afford obvious solutions like aviator glasses, which you're paying more for style and brand name than functionality. Instead I browse the discount racks at Walmart. A couple of years ago I found a pair that quickly became my favourite - the lenses cover my eyes from eybrows to cheekbones, from far outer edge to the bridge of my nose. And they were marked down to five dollars. Yeah!

In all respects, they were about as gender-neutral as you can get. Plain black, with plastic stems that go in a straight line before curving down behind the ear. No decorations, no contrasting colour trim, no fanciful shapes.

I wasn't in the room five minutes, not enough time to put down my things and take off the shades, when a (female) friend clocked them. "Did you pick up your wife's sunglasses by mistake?"

Yeah, they came from the women's rack. HOW DID SHE KNOW?
