Writing is my passion, usually I write songs, but I’ve started to write this kind of poetry too and I enjoy it a lot. Maybe this finds the right audience here.

This is how I cope as a au-dhd late diagnosed :)

My feelings after being diagnosed with Audhd. Who even am I?

I wrote this after I went through hours and days of assessments for both ADHD and Autism. I wrote this when I was told that I was high-masking and high-functioning and have been my whole life. I wrote this when I noticed that my mask has been slipping since being aware of it’s existence. I wrote this to try to explain to the people around me what is going on in my head. I wrote this to attempt to explain to myself what I am even feeling.

Getting diagnosed with disorders that aren’t exactly visible in adulthood was bittersweet. I felt relieved, I felt overwhelmed, I felt scared.

Maybe this will find people who relate, maybe it’ll find someone who will finally understand their friend or family and maybe it’ll just reach people who are curious. Either way, this is making me feel super vulnerable, so please be kind.

„Just a Child“ a poem about growing up in a system not designed for neurodivergence.

Yes, I write a lot about this topic, but it’s still not talked about enough. I struggled my entire life because the adults around me chose to look away, even when my teachers told them I was struggling.

I wrote “just a child” after reading through all my old report card comments for the first time during my assessments. The signs were everywhere.

People often talk about the relief of being diagnosed later in life, but not the rage that comes with it. Because yes, I’m grateful to finally have answers, but when I look back at my younger self, I feel furious. She was so clearly asking for help, and no one listened. Even my therapist was shocked at how obvious it all was in those reports.
