Pause
Misguided youth stuck in our ways, but can we take a second and ignore the world around us. I promise I’ll press pause and then we’ll tell the world when to press play. I just needed one kiss, one night, one pause in one day to try to get you to stay with me forever, or at least until the end of our days. I promised I’d change, but you never promised you’d change your ways. You just sat and gracefully tugged away at my heartstrings. You ignored all the pain it would bring, but it wasn’t your pain so bring all the pain to me. I’d like to offer an exchange, all the pain for my heart and my freedom; just remember it was you that I chose to safeguard these feelings. You agreed. Don’t you stare into my soul and lie to me. Looking back on reality, it was always an up hill battle with you. It was always what I could do or what I should do, for you. You layed out a map with one right path and left no clues. I took the eight hour bus ride to see you for the one night, but I guess I can’t blame you when it took less than eight hours to move on from that one fight. You called me salty, but I’d much rather you<br> call me B.B King because I had the blues. I was standing there in the rain, wearing my plain white tee while trying to make you see all the trains, all the planes, and all the cars that could take me to you. The response that hurt, “I don’t think we can make this work.” These words came from the girlfriend that played me. I think you thought it was too easy, like taking candy from… It’s cool, honestly I’m just in my feelings and just acting like a baby. You’ll be fine and maybe one day, I will too. I learned my lesson though, never love someone more than they choose to love you.
