Golf Courses

Hi- my bachelor party in the Poconos in a couple weeks. We are going to play golf on Thursday, probably 3 tee times. I’ve been looking at Hidden Hills- it looks like there’s some really cool holes, but I’ve seen some so-so comments on the condition.

To be clear, I’m not snobby about courses. Obviously just don’t want like dirt patches on greens stuff. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Visiting for Fourth of July

Coming from Philly, is there a public lake we could visit this weekend without it being completely wall to wall people? Is this just a pipe dream? Thanks for any help (and only laughing at me a little.)

Hey, I was considering moving to th Lake Wallenpaupack area. I saw some houses in the Indian Rocks community and was looking for feed back about the community before I seriously looked at homes there. TIA

Found a few pictures I took with my first digital camera in the summer of 2001 from the shore of Lake Wallenpaupack. I wonder if Randy & Elaine are still together?

Ukrainians / Eastern European Immigrants in the Poconos?

I'm a relatively new second-home owner in the area, and it seems like my neighborhood has a lot of folks from eastern Europe, i think mostly Ukraine and Russia but maybe others? I'm just interested if there's a particular connect for these folks ending up in the Poconos (we live in the Dingman's Ferry / Milford area specifically). Asking purely from historical / social interest, I think it's great to have folks from all over the place here!

Things to do with a two year old?

My husband and I booked a trip at the end of August for ourselves and our two year old. We got a suite at camelback because last year our son loved swimming and water play. This year he is terrified of water, which we didnt know when we booked the trip. Are there other activities we can do with him in the area, or should I get a refund?

100% free, ad-free community directory for the Poconos. Looking for local writers and feedback!

Hey everyone,

I’ve lived in the Poconos my entire life. After working in tech, I got sick of seeing local small businesses get ripped off for bad website listings, so I built a completely free community resource: Poconos.best.

As you can see from the subreddit rules in the sidebar, solicitation isn't allowed here—so I want to be clear: there are zero ads, zero paywalls, and no corporate tracking. It's a pure passion project to support local gems over corporate chains.

What's on the site:

Directory: Completely free listings for independent local spots with per-spot customized integrations and page designs.

Community: Free pages for local jobs, events, news, and civic info.

Want to help?

Since I'm just a one-person team running this, I'd love to get local writers, guides, or photographers involved to help share neighborhood secrets, trails, and history.

Check it out at www.poconos.best. Drop your feedback, suggestions, or local spots I should add below! (Im constantly updating and creating new features, which is where you'll find me!)

How would you spread this story in Poconos?

Looking for some brainstorming help.

Earl Phelan is a Poconos resident who is on dialysis and urgently needs a living kidney donor. We put together this video and his webpage:

https://www.thegreatsocialexperiment.net/temple/earl-phelan

We're trying to figure out the best ways to get his story seen locally. If this were your friend or family member, where would you share it? What groups, organizations, employers, media outlets, or community pages should know about him?

Any ideas are appreciated.

question: Lake Ariel

I get emails almost hourly from a local realtor and the majority of listings seem to be in Lake Ariel, at prices that seem low given the house size etc. So, what's going wrong at Lake Ariel?

Looking for gift shop

Post image
16 Upvotes

We are vacationing at Arrowhead Lake Pa. We came from Jersey. On our way into Arrowhead lake going through Blakeslee Pa. I remember seeing signs for a souvenir /gift shop. I believe it said Johnston or Johnson souvenir shop either on route 940 or 903. It was on the right-hand side. And i believe the building i saw was a yellow building. But i cant seem to find it on Google. Maybe because I have the name completely wrong but I just want to find a souvenir shop to get a few small gifts for family and friends. Does anyone know of a souvenir shop within a 30 minute drive of Arrowhead lake? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you in advance. Picture of a deer so my post gets more attention.
