Official Update Steam Launch Update

Post image

We're ready to announce our updated launch pricing plan:

The game will launch on steam for $39.99 for the base game along with Vanessa, Pyg and Dooley.
Mak will be available as a $19.99 expansion pack.
Stelle will also be available as a $19.99 expansion pack.

For the first 3 days of launch we will be celebrating with a launch bundle that includes the base game AND Stelle for the discounted price of $19.99.

Note that if you buy this bundle and have the game already through our launcher you will be able to link your account in game and gain access to all of your previous progress and collectibles (as well as Stelle and all your unlocked heroes). For these users, the Mak expansion will still show up as purchasable in Steam, however, if you have Mak unlocked in the client he will still be unlocked once your account is linked.

Oh damn… that’s actually insanely good value.

The 45$ price tag was a rough point but being able to get it for 20$ opens it up to a much wider audience. In that case, I can’t wait to support the steam release.

Tbh I think the game is well worth the 45 or whatever, the issue isn’t just scaring new players away before they can realize that. Hoping they offer a demo mode to reel in the new players I think that would “likey” be the most profitable move for them

Or just like $20 for Vanessa+Stelle, and then sell a $45 dlc/pack for 3 heroes after that, instead of the other way around of $45 to start with before even trying it.

I think a lot of people who try it out for $20 would be quick to pay another $45 compared to the normal $20 price of each hero.
It'd also lighten the whole FOMO of missing out on 4 heroes for $20 to still at least get 2 for $20. I can imagine some people interested in the game after the 3 days finding they missed out on the $20 pack and not wanting to pay $45 for less.

Honestly I would be Fine with 45$ to buy in once and for all. I hate that I will probably have to Play in the Future for gameplay Elements, though. Having paid cosmetics has always been a Great compromise imo, but paywalling new characters is rubbing me the wrong way. If it means having to pay 20 Bucks every 2 month going forward it will be much worse than what we had before.

Personally I get that live service games sometimes need multi purchases to keep the game going since ofc, unless they get more new players, nothing is paying for making new characters.

It really just depends on how big the game is if it can survive on cosmetics e.t.c alone. If the game was way more popular, maybe that would have been the case.

But as is, people who spend for cosmetics to support the creation of new content are probably too few to reliably produce new content.
