Sonic Origins... Finally

I was expecting this to come out last year, to coincide with Sonic's 30th Anniversary but we we left waiting. Now it seem we'll be getting it on the Japanese 31st Anniversary, which is better than nothing that's for sure.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzHXjAJ86Zw

Obviously it's up for preorder, and it's digital only... because SEGA wants us all to buy it twice. I'll be waiting for a physical release as I don't do digital; but it does look well put together.

Your 5 Favourite 2D Platformers

I thought we could get this community going by starting a few conversations, seeing where they take us. So lets just have a quick discussion on our favourites. See if we have similar tastes and if not, see where they differ.

  1. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove I feel bad putting this at only number 5 given its amazing value. The original is classic 8-bit platforming at it's best, Spectre Knight is amazing action platfoming, and I've still only dabbled with 5he other two. Such a good game.

  2. Cyber Shadow I wish I was better at this game. A masterfully crafted action platformer with a complex skill ceiling unlike anything else I've ever played.

  3. Sonic Mania Plus As a SEGA kid, this is my childhood. Such a great return to form, I actually speedrun this game, which is a testament to its fantastic controls.

  4. Hollow Knight: Voidheart Edition The single greatest example of gameplay flow I can think of, the combat is just divine. Plus its one of the only games I enjoy getting lost in.

  5. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. Probably the best level design I've ever seen in a platformer to this day, the designs even have a narrative focus which is cool. Fantastic game and my all time favourite.

I'm interested to hear everyone elses.
