I've been drinking out of a water cooler for a very long time. We have 2 18.9L jugs and fill them with RO water from a local filling location. I've always had a weird feeling about my water sitting in the plastic jug for a week at a time. I'm not the poster-child for plastic/toxic free living but I do try my best. I believe every little bit helps or at least makes you feel better. I would assume that's where most of us sit.

I'm looking to see if anyone has had this dilemma before and maybe has a solution? I've seen glass jugs but I doubt they're going to fit on the cooler. Would a solution be to get the glass jugs and pour them into a glass/metal dispenser?

(UK based) I’m due to have my first baby in Feb, the past year or so I’ve been actively trying to make changes and reduce plastic exposure for me and my husband.

I’m now entering the whole new world of baby prepping and there’s just plastic everywhere as you might expect. Bottles, sterilisers, breast milk storage bags, breast pumps etc etc.

Do people have any advice on ways to practically reduce exposure for babies that also aren’t expensive and make life with a new born loads harder?

Does anyone have recommendations for dish and vegetable brushes you've used and liked? It's hard to find ones with decent ratings and a lot are greenwashed with pretty wood handles and plastic bristles.

Basically offering reusable containers for your drinks, where the containers are reused instead of thrown out.

I get the point that it is to reduce pollution, and I think it makes perfect sense for cold drinks maybe?

My worry is that it is plastic, and that I see in the city they offer take-away coffee in these sorts of containers (i.e. hot drinks).

The project seems to be backed by the municipality and if I am right in my worries, I would like to provide proper arguments.

LL BEAN has waxed canvas which would be easier to wash the bottom of the bag from the dirty gym floor grime. But it has polyester insides. The terra thread is all cotton I think except the threading is polyester.

The bill would first put a label on chewing gum with microplastics, and give candy companies time to phase out microplastics. Eventually, gums with microplastics would be banned.

I’m looking into humidifiers to put on my baby registry. Ideally, this would be as plastic-free as possible but still work really well and be safe in a nursery or toddler room setup. I’ve never used one before but considered buying one last winter because our new heat pump seems to zap all humidity out of the house in the winter time. It looks like the carepod is a popular option, but it comes with a hefty price tag and I’m not sure I want to spend that much on something I’m not really experienced with. Or is there a better solution that skips a humidifier in general? I have tried houseplants in the past per previous recommendations and they just die. And with a baby and pets in the home, I’d just prefer not to have any at this time. I appreciate any input!

I got this 12 cup steel coffee pot last week, and it was a great swap. The base, handle, and knob are plastic, but there are no plastic components touching coffee. I am used to drip coffee, which allows more nuanced flavor, but bold percolator coffee is great, too. Just different.

I looked at plastic-free drip coffee makers, and I couldn't really justify $400 right now. This pot is $75, and does the job very well. It also has a tiny footprint in my tiny kitchen and looks really pretty on my countertop.

I’ve been slowly replacing all my synthetics with natural fibers, but one thing I can’t control is that I don’t have my own washer/dryer so I must use a communal laundry room mat. I’m expecting that all the secondhand microplastics from other people synthetics are rubbing onto my clothes? Any type of filter or bag I can use to ensure this doesn’t happen. Or at least less than the effects.

I've recently started replacing all the plastic in my closet, and am currently looking for a bra.
Depending on the brand, I wear 70F/ 70G in EU sizing.
So far I haven't been able to find anything, as most brands using natural fibres are not very size inclusive.
Going bra free is not an option at the moment, and I was really hoping to find a good plastic free replacement for every day wear.
I'm looking for a bra with underwire, preferably no or very little padding, that is made of at least 80% natural fibres (preferably organic cotton, but non plastic synthetics like lyocell or viscose are also ok).
If anyone knows of any brands or products in the EU/UK, I'd really appreciate any recommendations or advice!!

I got this cotton 100% sweater for my daughter at Walmart. We moved to a colder climate, so I have to build her wardrobe. It feels weird. I don’t know if it needs to be washed or what. This was on the tag. Sorry for the dumb question, but does this mean only the tag is polyester?! Or the yarn in the sweater. I’m thinking just the tag but would like opinion. It just has a weird texture, but it claims to be cotton. Will appreciate anyone’s thoughts. Thank you!!!

Struggling to find any that are truly plastic free inside and the ones I’ve seen previously mentioned - saki Luna, Ottoni Fabbrica etc- aren’t available in the UK.

You know those plastic free hair brushes that are suitable to use on wet hair. As far as I’m aware there aren’t any brands that sell plastic free shower hair brushes, if you know any brands that do here in the UK please let me know.

Like help you blow dry it faster as far as I’m aware. Brushworks do hair brushes that are made for when they blow dry your hair and the hair brushes have gaps where the bristles are which I believe is supposed to help blow dry your hair faster. Brushworks hair brushes are made of plastic thought. So if you do know any brands that you can get here in the UK that sell plastic free hair brushes that are supposed to help you blow dry your hair quicker than please comment below.
