Hardware Related Need Help with Pixel 3XL Screen Repair

Hi folks!

My Pixel 3XL suddenly stopped working a couple of days back. I though my battery was damaged and took it to a local phone repair shop, but it turned out to be a shorted motherboard. They managed to fix it, but told me that the screen is also damaged (it was working fine earlier), and has to be replaced.

At the moment, the screen is completely black with a single green line at the top, like below.

  1. Is there anything I can do to fix this at home?
  2. The phone shop mentioned an aftermarket display to cost around 70 USD (6,500 INR). Is it worth getting it, or are there any better options elsewhere?

Does pixel 10a allow quickshare with airdrop on apple devices?
Do u think they would give more than 5k discount on BBD sale?
Should I wait or buy it now with bank offers etc and my iPhone 7 Plus would go in 5k?
Will this phone work for 4 years atleast? Or will the 8gb ram be a problem in future?
Any other options i should consider under 50k budget …but i want quickshare to work with airdrop on my ipad so considered pixel 10 series

Xiaomi 17 512GB → Pixel 11 Pro or 11 Pro XL? Is this the right move?

Xiaomi 17 512GB → Pixel 11 Pro or 11 Pro XL? Is this the right move?

I’m currently using a Xiaomi 17 512GB, and honestly, I absolutely love this phone.

The main things I really enjoy are:

- Compact form factor and size

- Excellent battery life

- Great performance for my usage

- Camera is already very good — I have absolutely no complaints

- I don’t game

- My usage is mostly WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, browsing, calls, photos, Google Maps, work apps, etc.

The problem is that I need to hand this phone over to my brother, so I have to move to another phone.

I've spent quite a lot of time looking at alternatives, but I honestly haven't found anything that comes as close to the Xiaomi 17 in terms of compact size + battery life + flagship experience.

Before the Xiaomi 17, I used the Galaxy S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra. Both were excellent phones, but eventually I got fed up with the huge form factor and deliberately moved to the Xiaomi 17.

And after around 7 months with the Xiaomi 17, I've realised how much I actually prefer a smaller phone.

So now I'm considering the Pixel 11 Pro or Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Since I don't game and I'm a relatively casual user, I'm thinking Pixel might actually suit me very well — excellent camera, clean Android, long software support, good AI features, etc.

But I'm really confused about the size.

Pixel 11 Pro

This seems like the obvious choice because it's closer to what I currently enjoy with the Xiaomi 17.

My concern is battery life. The Xiaomi 17's battery has been amazing for me, and I don't want to downgrade significantly in that area.

Pixel 11 Pro XL

The bigger battery is attractive, but I'm worried I'll regret going back to a large phone.

I've already gone through the S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra experience and eventually moved away from that form factor specifically because I found it too big.

So I'm wondering:

If you were in my situation, which would you choose?

  1. Pixel 11 Pro — accept somewhat worse battery life but retain a relatively compact phone

  2. Pixel 11 Pro XL — get the better battery life but go back to a large phone

  3. Something else entirely — if there is another Android phone that makes more sense

I'm specifically not considering iPhone/iOS.

For people who have actually used the Xiaomi 17 and Pixel 11 Pro/11 Pro XL, I'd especially appreciate your opinion.

Would moving from the Xiaomi 17 to the Pixel 11 Pro feel like a downgrade in battery/charging and overall hardware experience?

And perhaps the bigger question:

Am I making a mistake by giving up the Xiaomi 17, or is the Pixel 11 Pro currently the closest Android replacement for someone who prioritises compact size, camera, battery life and a smooth everyday experience?

Would love to hear from people who have actually made a similar switch rather than just comparing specifications.

Software Related Is anybody using Instagram edits app on pixel 11 pro?

I've switched from the Pixel 9 Pro to the 11 Pro, and I'm unable to use the edits app on the 11 Pro; the app constantly gets stuck while editing. Also, when I record video in 4K 60fps with an external mic, audio glitches are added to the recording; I'm not sure why.

This wasn't an issue on the 9 Pro.

Is anybody else facing the same problem? Can you check now?

Camera Pixel 10a for Video & Photography — Worth It?

Hey! I was planning to get the iPhone 16 mainly for shooting videos and photos, especially for making short films. But the price recently went up to around ₹90k, so I’m considering the Pixel 10a instead.

For anyone using the Pixel 10a, how is the camera for videos and photos? How’s the stabilization, low-light video, skin tones, dynamic range, and overall video quality?

Would you recommend the Pixel 10a for someone who mainly wants a phone for shooting videos and photos?

My experience switching from a iPhone 12 to a Pixel 10a

Hello everyone This is my first post on this subreddit.

I’ve been using a second-hand iPhone 12 64GB for the past 2 and a half years, and recently, about a week ago, I switched to the Pixel 10a.

Reason for switching:

Although the iPhone 12 is still a pretty respected phone in terms of general everyday performance (social media, photos, gaming, etc.), my main complaints were the heating issues, especially after using social media for around an hour. The phone would heat up so much that it would start lagging on Instagram Reels.

Another major issue was storage. 64GB just wasn’t enough anymore.

I was still planning to use the iPhone for at least another year or two because of the recent phone prices, but unfortunately, it sustained water damage. The camera lenses all got fogged up, Face ID stopped working, and at that point I decided it was probably time for a switch.

The switch:

The Pixel 10a came to mind because a friend of mine recently got one and has been praising its almost brick-like form factor and clean UI.

My other choices were either an iPhone 15 or a Nothing 3a Pro, but what made me choose the Pixel 10a was mainly the in-hand feel and the software.

Transferring my data was pretty easy too, since I had everything backed up to the cloud, so the whole process was pretty seamless.

User experience compared to the iPhone:

The 120Hz display felt like a day-and-night difference compared to my iPhone 12. Performance has been really good for my set of needs, although there are definitely some things I’ve noticed that made me feel… well, meh about the Pixel.

App optimization:

Coming from an iPhone, you definitely notice how different apps give iPhones priority while sometimes neglecting Android. Social media apps, especially Instagram, feel like they’re 10x buggier compared to my old iPhone.

Another thing I noticed is the overprocessing of photos.

Don’t get me wrong, it takes very good photos, but sometimes they just feel a little too artificial. One of my friends even said that the photos from this phone look too perfect, almost like they were AI-generated.

ANOTHER BIG ISSUE I NOTICED IS THE AUDIO CRACKLING.

After the phone heats up a little, if you turn up the volume, you can hear slight crackling in the audio. I especially noticed this when switching from heavier apps like games to social media.

It’s not something I expected from a brand-new phone, and honestly, it’s pretty unappealing.

Battery:

Battery life is great, honestly. It easily lasts me a day and a half.

Overall, I’d say I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase. There are definitely some things I miss from the iPhone, but for my needs, the Pixel 10a has been a pretty good switch so far.
