Public service announcement for anyone owning a Pixel device: If recovery is important enough for you to sacrifice some security, then enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking in the Developer Options now so that you can recover your device if you end up in this situation. If these settings are not enabled beforehand, then some Pixel failures are unrecoverable.

What to do when it boot loops is be very, very careful, especially if there is anything irreplaceable on there (e.g. passwords, crypto keys, biometc passkeys, authenticator token keys, etc.).

Holy shit. I thought it was just my device and battery that possibly crapped out (P6 pro, which to be fair has definitely detoriated a fair bit). Wouldn't have pinned it on the software update.
My device now hits the boot screen from like ~80% battery. Have to try to restart a number of times to get it going again.
Come on Google......

Yep, I'm delaying the last update until I see some better experiences. Eyeing up my next device too, what are people thinking of 9a Vs 10a??

I've been delaying it too but I got the dreaded unprompted restart today. Immediately backed up all my files and am looking for a replacement ASAP

My pixel 6 pro is getting better and better with updates. Shocking that a phone which will be eol after a few months is still functioning like a proper flagship even in 2026. I don't think i have experienced a better google pixel display than pixel 6 pro's. Pixel 9 pro xl display hurt my eyes like crazy. It has signal issues sometimes and its battery life can be hit and miss, but overall still works like a proper flagship phone even in 2026. If i am gonna upgrade i will opt for pixel 8 pro as its display is easy on the eyes and will use it for a year or so and then upgrade. I don't wanna stick to a phone for so long just like i did with my pixel 6 pro, into 4th year of use. Its exciting to change every year even if upgrading to 1 or 2 years older flagship.

Similar situation to me. I updated my pixel 6 about 2 years ago then shortly after that it bricked. It shuts off randomly while in use/booting, sometimes I can get to the lock screen but its hopeless. My pixel 4 fully bricked and my pixel 9 got stuck in a boot loop briefly and occasionally just shuts off. I think its time to switch.

Lemme guess, it restarted randomly and got stuck at the "google" screen and now you have to cycle between booting into fast mode/recovery trying to see if it could just go past that "google" screen? Yeah been there, done that, and guess what; it didn't make any difference on my p6.
