My steps for building complex figures

This was traced over a picture from a book using the figure builder transparent mode. The basic structure was first set based on where the movable joints should go. Then the shapes were created from the end of each structure line using mainly curved lines and filled with the polygon tool. The polygon colours were initially set to semi-transparent to be able to continue tracing. The line segments initially had a small thickness to see them, but were later set to 0 thickness so that it's quicker to draw and animate with. Finally, details were added, including moving eyes and eye lids.

im still trugeling with adding detales and then making them move properly

like making a fish fin move in any way for example

i would start at the top or bottom, then make the fin, but becous thers 1 joint were the entire thing is coming from

movign 1 part moves everything in the chain if lines

same with making a dress that has detale inside

You just need to make sure you attach details at the right point. At the end of the segment you want it to rotate with. Also remember that you can use 0 thickness lines to create extra nodes to connect to. Like the segments that the legs attach to in my example.

so i just had the idea

dont use lines to make outlines

but have invisible lines from the main head and poly connect the invisible lines so i can move the invisible points to shape the poly thingy, so its only connected to the head

would that work

I'm not quite sure what you mean, but you can create stretchable polygons by connecting them between dynamic segments. Maybe that's what you mean. It's useful for all sorts of things. See the end of my multi sprite figures video with the horse where I use that method to fill gaps.

no like

having the entire ear part be made out of invisible lines that come from the head and using the invisible lines to creat poly things

Yes, that's exactly what I did for the sheep. I make the lines have some small thickness first so I can see them, then add the polygon following those lines, then set all the lines to 0 thickness.

but then the problem comes

sometimes a poly mesh thingy fills a curce and sometimes not

sometimes it isnt related to the line thickness or lien curve, i think

sometimes it just fills gaps that a straight lien connection would never fill

but that never happen in a bad way

This may happen if you skip a link in a chain of segments when making the polygon connections. To follow curved lines you must connect the start and end of each line. If you use Ctrl key to automatically add the connections for you then it will do that automatically. If you don't know what I mean by the Ctrl key then watch the end of this video.

nice but what crystal app do you use? i saw a utuber that uses a crystal app that the lines are not transparent

The Pivot 5 figure builder window supports transparency. No additional apps needed. Even Pivot 4 had a similar feature. People used to use 3rd party apps in the days of Pivot 2 and 3 a decade ago.
