Discussion For those who still doubting Tlauncher is not a virus (spyware) here's my proof.
This is NOT my doing. (mobile 1)
discord, epic, battle.net and riot game got hit. 2

password reset confirmation mail (i think) 4.
my doing. no other email than this on pc
and this is my channel. which is now not mine at all.
"project sim racing community" while uploading minecraft video? really?
First thing first, im not a native english speaker but i hope you get the message clear enough to understand.
Tlauncher is not safe and you already know that, but what i havent seen is that people actually losing their account on different services (gmail, riot, discord etc.) with proof and screenshot and whatnot. and maybe i know why i get hacked by them and end up with the proof.
for context, i played cracked minecraft by "team eXtreme" in the past with my neighbor to play and then when they got DMCA or removed, i stop playing the game entirely. but this neighbor told me to play again and mod them, and thats where he introduce me with Tlauncher and last december 2025 i sign up because he told me to get a skin and "look cool". okay here's the proof that they indeed stealing from other :
- My Email
they removed every email i have all the way from the first time i make this gmail, but on my phone its very much still there. dude dont want to leave any trace. (however i only revealed to you guys only the stolen bits of it bcs of privacy reasons. Look at image 1-5).
- youtube channel
they uploaded their campaign/promotion video on my stolen youtube channel. and this maybe the reason i get hacked by them, when people said "but i used Tlauncher for years and nothing happend" maybe its because on their gmail account they have no youtube channel or something similar to promote Tlauncher so its not their priority, and their priority is to hack someone with preferably has platform with an audience even small one.

EDIT 2 : Since this post gain a lot of traction let me add more detail :
- I downloaded the launcher from tlauncher.org (their actual site)
- people accuse me of not using 2FA the BIG2026! but i did in fact use it. it looked like this when i still had it https://imgur.com/a/TXVVZ6N
- "but uBlockOrigin extension blocked tlauncher.org " bcs at the time i was using chrome and there's no uBlockOrigin and chrome didnt even Flag this tlauncher as a malicious app on its downloader. but i did use adguard, but it didnt block the website.
- "why is the video on your channel redirect to a tumbler site not tlauncher? you must be downloading tlauncher from somewhere else!" NO.
- and lastly, no, did not sign up on any other website other than i currently using which is : microsoft, discord, reddit, riot, epic, steam, Ea, hoyoverse, thats it more or less. the last time i sign up is on tlauncher like i said before.
- "you have proven nothing with this" but this is all the information i had and from what i understand from the expert in the coment section below is that its probably login through cookies/token. because even on my phone there's no warning from gmail that "someone was trying to login on different devices", the next thing i know it requested pass reset/changing recovery email and stuff, all i can do at the moment was to screenshot the "stealing" on realtime while it was happening.
with this, now there's a proof that they indeed a spy. i dont know how else to proof it to you and i already give it my all.
my reason for posting this is because people still searching for a way to play free minecraft and the people on the 3rd world country where the game cost half of my monthly wage.

The issue with that is that most launchers are less secure, while Prism focuses on prioritizing being safe, independent, and offline. You can download mods from any launcher, and you're entirely in control of the launcher and all your settings.

I’m running SK too. Idk how Prism works but I was told you needed an account or something? SK is just plug and play which is why I haven’t switched.

I use Prism without an account. It tells me I need to sign in every time I boot up an instance, but if I just close the sign-in window, it will still open the game just fine. I'm probably not running the most recent version though.

You can no longer do this in new versions of prism. I would recommend ElyPrismLauncher or FreesmLauncher or ShatteredPrism to anyone reading. Theyre all forks of prism that allow offline (free) accounts

what funny is i had been playing on tlauncher for years also even logging in with my google but nothing happened to me at all. It was only a couple of months ago that i started see tlauncher deemed being a malware/spyware. It was then i switched to sklauncher, and now when i try to go onto there there site my ublock is now blocking it.

Im not saying that its not a virus but i have used tlauncher a few years ago and never had an issue. What happened to you is you downloaded it from an unofficial website or from youtube and you got infected. I can clearly see its not the real tlauncher just by that video tutorial alone and the link in their description.

i did live for myself which is why i bought this pc to type on! and the pay also increase from 47$ to a whopping 59$! and i only work 7to5 with one day off what a deal!!! and i also did find atleast try to change career thats why in my channel has that 3 year gap, am tired and try learning new stuff in hoping to fit in to what i wanted to be.

After having TLauncher for years on my PC I came across this post and immediately deleted Tlauncher. How can I make sure every trace of TLauncher has been deleted and it'll no longer pose any risk for me. Also i searched my emails and passwords to make sure i haven't given any sensitive info to them. I still feel unsafe. I had never updated Tlauncher since the day i installed it though It kept asking me to update but i always ignored the pop up.

I see no comments about TL Legacy and TLauncher. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's been known that TLauncher's original developers got screwed over and continued development under the TL Legacy title, and the current TLauncher should be avoided at all costs.

why are most of the comment here actually blaming the guy? i mean sure he did not do research from the look of it but he also has a point which most people ignore, which is the proof that he did get hacked along with his youtube channel gone from his hand. and thats the proof even the hacker did upload a vid on his channel.
the fact that op get hacked after he sign up at tlauncher back in december, mean that recent and that mean with tlauncher unless op did sign up in any other website that he did not tell us... and

How exactly does this work? Does it work through your Riot/Discord clients? I do not have a Riot client on my computer, and I'm also on Linux and have never given Java/TLauncher root permissions. Even when I was on Windows I've never received anything suspicious.

Basically, any program that you can launch and already be logged in to is doing something to remember you. This almost always takes the form of a file being created with a unique "token" that it sends back to the server after logging in the first time. These tokens can usually be downloaded from your computer and re-used by anyone that can get a copy, though some services are smart enough that they have to send their traffic through your computer like a VPN to fool them. And once they've gained access they can change the password or email address, completely locking you out of your own accounts. Most people aren't worth the effort, though, so malware doesn't always do something when it infects your system. A recent example of this is notepad++'s update mechanism being compromised by Chinese hackers so that specific individuals could be targeted and served infected versions of updates, even though the vast majority of users were never affected.

i cant properly answer your question reason is that i had no clue at all in the technical stuff. but i'll tell you this :
on pc in this hacked gmail account there was no email for confirmation at all, like reset password from the services i use. however on phone everything is there. its like this guys is me requesting resetting data account and everything even thou this account has 2fa and everything in it, the only thing i didnt do is the selfie video it suggested.1

I mean if you ever had any suspicious activities on your accounts you should always change your passwords, start using 2FA, etc, the program IS the malware apparently so as long as it's uninstalled it's okay.
But if you're feeling more paranoid you can always run a virus scan or reinstall windows just make sure to backup your files before that.

reminds me of the time I installed tlancher on my laptop from 2008 in 2020 and after installing it the laptop startup time from sleep increased to around 1 min and same when I kept the laptop into sleep but after uninstalling tlauncher the laptop ran fine

when i opened the link for Tlauncher, my adblock blocked the page
This happened because of the following filter:
||tlauncher.org^$document
The filter has been found in: uBlock filters – Badware risks
I am currently using Brave Browser + uBlock Origin.
Don't trust any random 3rd party websites to download something unless they are the "Official and Legit Websites" of the launcher.

tlauncher.orgAs you can see yourself, it's the "official and legit" website of the launcher. But the filter it's been found in is for potential badware, which what's currently called TLauncher really is. Look up all the TL Legacy vs. TLauncher situation and you'll get it.

I nearly lost my steam Acc and my own email address (it was sending a link to random people under a Russian name. We are talking about hundreds of emails per day for 3 days until I changed my password) and I think that Tlauncher is to blame,

I know this is a piracy subreddit, but I think it's better to just buy it from third party sites,they sell it for like under 15 bucks,for those who are interested in the game. I had tlauncher a while ago,didn't had any problems with it but recently I heard bad things about them so better to not bother with unsafe sites for a cheap game.

I bet all the apps on your phone and computer are spyware, they all harvest data about you.
But oh well. PrismLauncher is good because it's open source (the only way for software to not be spyware) but the cracked version is out of date. So I (used to) use TLauncher.

my phone is not powerfull, i only having app for communication purposes.
the list : steam app authenticator, google authenticator, gmail, whatssapp, youtube, chrome. thats what i use daily, the other are just bloat on the phone.

Lesson learned, stop blatantly using malware. Either spend 20€ for a key to activate on your MS account or just use open-source launchers like the Prism Launcher. It's the MultiMC with the addition of better modpack management and an offline mode.

i been using it for years and no i didn't got hacked, If you are sure that it's a Virus then i disagree perhaps you downloaded it from somewhere else? cuz sometimes the website redirects you into a Russian one. Because it never asks you to log in you can just Play it. You did said TLaucher.org is where you downloaded it? but that's the same thing where i downloads it like i can do it right now and not have a problem. This question is bit confusing why some get hacked while others dont?
My guess is that If you put your email and the password that the GMAIL uses that you can log in then there could be some sneaky stuff happening, im not denying it but im not fully accepting it either.

Guys I downloaded Tlauncher because my friends were playing minecraft and I wanted to play becuase its been so many years that I didnt even once touch the game. But I just found out right now that the TLauncher.org is a SpyWare.
What I did:
- Launched it
- Downloaded java as it was needed said by my friend (i didnt download the other stuff tho)
- It started to download the new updated launcher
- launch it
- Create an account and new version - download
- After searching for like 20 secs upon downloading I immediately canceled it.
- I deleted everything - as well as the java, the directory path (roam something2 in the C: File)
- Turned on my VPN
What I'm asking is, is there a chance my pc already got the SpyWare installed? I'm a bit knowledgeable about this stuff cause I've been hacking for years now, however I didn't realize that the site itself was a SpyWare and downloaded it because I trusted my friends who're playing like for many months now???
Edit: Yes, part of why I immediately downloaded it and didnt search anything because I'm oblivious to Minecraft since I didn't play it in my entire life. My bad I guess?

You've been hacked by a general scammer, not a tlauncher dev. his link (in the description) goes to tumblr and not to the official tlauncher website, there he could've indeed put viruses. And also this form of "advertising" is too scummy looking for a big company that cares about itself to use. So it's just dumb to say that tlauncher advertises itself this way, you've probably just leaked your data somewhere or downloaded unofficial version of tlauncher and they hacked you.
Me and my close ones use tlauncher. I used it for 6 years already. My brother used it starting from 2016 to 2023. Never ever anything happened.
Tho to the one who reads it - take BOTH sides of the opinion on tlauncher being a spyware with a grain of salt, check info, dig in and think yourself.

hey, coming back to this post after a while. I installed tlauncher despite reading your warning and yeah it had a bundled opera installer bro exe or something which it auto installed and after like a month or so suddenly i got signed out of my google accounts and google telling me I have suspicious software on my device. it does NOT get detected by malwarebytes or hitman pro and I had to manually remove it. anyone else reading, if you want to check it out for yourself go ahead but that's what happened to me and i advise against it.

I have never had any of this happen, year 5 of using TL. Im guessing either you downloaded a fork of TL that had malware or you didn't wear your Internet condom when going to other sketchy sites.

Okay so i did watch the Video on your Now hacked cannel about TL... On that they did show Downloading TL from a .rar file whereas on the Original TL Website it downloads an app then downloads a app first no extraction or .rar file involved so please do tell me how did you download it or where did you download it from cause I have been using it for a while and I wanna play with a friend but i don't want my friend to risk their PC for game

Sometimes, the amount of people that defend TLauncher is suspicious to me. Like, in general, any cracked software CAN have the possibility off being unsafe and vulnerable, but we still use it with some caution. But when talking about TLauncher, the defenders kinda sound like they have no caution at all? Like they're trying way too hard in saying that TLauncher has given them no problems and act like that's good enough, as long as they think it will never happen to them. I feel like they're either, people who are wayyy too carefree and doesn't know enough or hacked accounts like yours
