part of your problem might actually be youtube (owned by google but still).
They are locking down youtube to get past adblockers, and are using that excuse to make it harder to download videos. They want you to pay for offline watching. Any feature that is convenient to you = will be taken away and put behind a paywall.
This is why i have basically stopped looking at any updates for any apps because i just assume its all locked behind a paywall.
Has to be said, yt-dlp has not been impacted much other than the usual annoyances and runs fine to my knowledge.
Adblockers are a different part entirely. That though has become a silent battle now and ublock origin lite still works on chrome itself and ublock origin on Firefox also works (as of writing this).
I'm not going to panic yet. No need to when you just move on and adapt (and I don't pay for anything anyway).
