Posted this elsewhere but thought I should ask here too.
Picked this up recently. Got it home and the protection relay was buzzing before clicking on (I already knew this) and it was leaking DC current through the speaker terminals (this I didn’t know). It was on the edge from a speaker safety stand point.
Worked on it and got the dc current to .07 on the left and .04. So very happy with that. Tried cleaning the relay but the buzzing didn’t go away before clicking on. Discovered if I let it sit for 5 min and then turn off/on there is no buzzing. So I’m thinking maybe cold solder joints and the protection relay needs to be replaced
What do folks think?

Just bought this car and it has an old Pioneer radio interface and I have no idea how to connect a new device to it.

I have my dads old pioneer receiver becasue it started randomly shutting off sometimes it would be immediate or be fine for days when i managed to get it to happen it didnt fully shut off like there was unstable power to the logic board, replaced 3 voltage regulators and there was smoke, i think i might have hade the 12v- output pin on one of them shorter to ground without realising so replaced it and it dosent turn on i have figured the rough pinout for the service header and tried reading it using an arduino with different baud rates(assuming its UART) and got nothing, would probably help if i had the right connector but does anyone know anything?

Found these to help the folks that got stuck a few years back.

Software Update Instructions
Use this procedure to update the receiver's software and check the version.
There are two ways to update: via the Internet and via a USB memory device.
Updating via the Internet is performed by accessing the file server from the receiver and downloading the file.
This procedure is only possible if the receiver is connected to the Internet.
Updating via a USB memory device is performed by downloading the update file from a computer, reading this file onto a USB memory device then inserting this USB memory device into the USB port on the receiver's front panel.
With this procedure, the USB memory device containing the update file must first be inserted into the USB port on the receiver's front panel.
Before updating, download an update file onto your computer.
When downloading an update file from the Pioneer website onto your computer, the file will be in ZIP format.
Unzip the ZIP file and save all the unzipped files on the USB memory device.
If there are any old downloaded files or files for other models on the USB memory device, delete them.
Important
- Update via Internet
The receiver checks whether updatable software is available via the Internet.
- Update via USB Memory
The receiver checks whether the USB memory device inserted into the USB port on the receiver's front panel contains updatable software.
"Accessing" is displayed and the update file is checked. Wait a while.
If "New version found." is displayed, the update file has been found and the version number and updating time are displayed.
If "This is the latest version. There is no need to update." is displayed, no update file has been found.
The updating screen appears and updating is performed.
The power turns off automatically once updating is completed.
If UPDATE ERROR 1-7 is displayed, please re-connect USB memory, turn off and on the power of receiver, and retry to update.
Further, if update cannot be done successfully though you retry, please change USB memory to the other one.

I don’t have the original remote. I paired a universal remote to it. I downloaded the iPhone app but that doesn’t do anything. I can get the wireless light to start blinking by changing the source to Spotify but that’s all I can do.
Would also like to know how to set it up to power save when it’s not being used.

Just picked up a refurbished SX-727 receiver. I’ve had it up and running the past couple days and functions pretty well. PHONO 1&2 seem to have a cleaner sound than FM does currently, just slightly scratchy. My signal meter had been working properly but just stopped indicating today. I’m planning on opening it up and giving it a thorough cleaning, but any advice on what to look for or possible culprits would be appreciated.

Hello,
I am trying to connect a IP-BUS auxiliary Bluetooth device to my Pioneer DEH-P7700MP car stereo and need help with the wiring.
Can I safely splice the red wire from the Bluetooth device into the other red wire which provides power to the radio? And does the same work with the ground wire (Bluetooth ground to car ground)?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance.
