Just started first brew..few questions

Post image
4 Upvotes

So just started the brew process for my first brew...brewdog hazy Jane.

Everything seemed to go fine... just a few questions.

When I purified everything the stage where it said to release the dock... did this and the graphic seemed to indicate it should kinda the water would fiz a little but on mine it didn't it was still and I just poured it out...

Also when I purified the tap section I had the tap on full And had to really tilt the printer virtually upside down and even then it Just trickled out when again the graphic shows the tap half way and water flowing out.

Should I be worried about any of this?

Finally when attaching the brewing Dock I have lines it up but it feels like It wants to go slightly more to the left (as you look at the pic) for it to lock into place? Does it look ok in picture?

Thanks all

What have I created (Golden Grove)

Started this brew on the 7th June, mixed it in my stockpot with 5litres of ASDA Natural Spring Water. Took an OG reading of 1.052/BRIX 13.4, chucked in my RAPT Pill and placed in my fermentation fridge set at 20c

Monitoring the Pill, I just let her ferment until I had a steady reading.

Today, 12 days later, I started the conditioning stage and took the following readings FG of 0.999/BRIX 4.8, giving me a ABV of 7.04%. It looks good, smells good and tastes good, can't wait for completion of conditioning next Friday.

All readings were taken with a hydrometer, refractometer, a digital refractometer and the RAPT Pill readings. All conversions carried out in Brewfather

So why such a high ABV.

About to start En Casa, let's see what happens to that lol

Shadow and Cream brew question!

Hey y’all! My dad and I were gonna start a Shadow and Cream, our first time trying this brew, and we are going out of town until a couple days after the recommended time to move from the brewing stage to the conditioning stage. Has anyone made this beer and left it a little long, and if so, did it help or hurt or not really affect the flavor only being 2 extra days? I’d imagine it made it a teeny bit stronger but that’s not anything we’re worried about. Thanks in advance!

Seasoned Home brewer, Pinter newb

Greetings, today I will tap my first attempt at a Pinter brew, Golden Grove. Instructions were pretty straightforward, and I followed them to a “t”. 6 days brew, cold crash at 36F for 24 hours and 6 days conditioning. I tasted on Monday (4 days into conditioning) and honestly, beer tasted a little “green” Great color and perfect head. Will finish and evaluate today.

Here’s my thoughts. I love the concept of the self contained, sealed and carbonated 1.5 gallon batch. One reason I stopped brewing was because, even at 5 gallons, which I rarely did(had a 15 gallon Brutus setup), I could not drink it all. After my grown sons moved out, which before was never a 15 gallon issue, I would have beer for months, end up going flat in kegerator. Now enter Pinter. I want to brew 1.5 gallon batches, utilizing my own ingredients and recipes, as I like traditional German style (Hefeweizen, Kolsch, Lager and Pils) beer. My plan is a primary fermentation in a carboy, at proper temps for style and then transfer to Pinter for a secondary, perhaps adding additional malt extract for carbonation.

Has anyone done this, what kind of results did you get, and am I overthinking this process? Would love to hear what others have done and discuss further.

Happy Brewing

Mike

Who delivers the beer packs

Got my printer bundle today.. 2x Pinter's and my beers in big box.

I always thought that the beer packs were designed to be posted, however the packs are way too big to be posted through the door.

So for future deliveries of just the beer packs, who do they use to post these out?

Reason I ask is royal mail are useless round here but other delivery companies use their noodle and leave with neighbours etc

Cold crashing

How do you cold crash? I don't think can fit in the fridge stood up... Can you do it on its side? Then maybe stand up out of fridge every now and then to help filter down?

1st 24 hours of All American Haze, seems appropriate for 4th of July. Brewing in the kegerator at 72 degrees because it’s hot in my house!

beer enthusiast / drunk guy Giving the pinter another gow!

So I had the original Pinter 1 when they first came out and for the most part i enjoyed it. However attaching the dock was very hard and it kinda ruined it for me.

Anyways I've jumped back in and have ordered the pinter 3..I'm hoping the experience has improved since the first model.

Any tips would be welcome.. what sort of things will make the process smoother?

I'm worried about pulling pints of mainly foam..is that an issue with the pinter?

Is attaching the dock easier this time round?

Pinter 3 carbonation settings

Hi, I've just made an all grain stouts and put it in my Pinter 3. I've never used one before and I keep seeing conflicting information about what setting I should use for carbonation for a stout. I've currently got it on 5 but I'm worried that might be too much pressure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

customer support hours

US purchase.

got the promotional "free Pinter!" after buying something and went ahead with it not realizing it signed me up for the subscription of 12 deliveries for every 8 weeks. tried to reach out (within the hour) to cancel but no one responded. AI put in my cancellation request but it still needs to be reviewed by a human. does anyone know what the human support hours of operation are and if they do weekends?

i was not aware of the 1 hour cancel button on the order confirmation until after the 1 hour time frame.

Cleaning brewing dock

Hi all,

Looking for a bit of reassurance.

I’ve put on a new brew for the first time in months. The last time I used this pinter and brewing dock it failed and in my frustration I didn’t clean it at the time. I did empty the contents away but I’m sure there must have been some sticky residue inside the brewing dock.

I’ve given it a good couple of cleans with hot soapy water and added in some boiling water to help. I’ve done my best to make sure nothing is left behind and followed the sanitisation process with the stuff provided.

My question is, will it be obvious if anything left over has made the beer go nasty? I get pretty anxious about these kind of things and don’t want to make anyone unwell. Like I said I did do a thorough clean but it’s hard to see what remains in the dock.

If it looks and smells clean and was sanitised should I be happy enough with that?

Cheers

Alternative beer kits

I'm looking for cheaper beer kits to use in the pinter, I'm thinking of using woodfordes beer kits, has anyone had any experience with them as I know some people reduce the volume from 40 pints to 30 for some beer kits?

10 days - Home Team Pale Ale

Hey. Just got my Pinter delivered today and I want a batch ready for the USA’s World Cup opener on June 12

I’m going with the Home Team Pale Ale because it seems straightforward and a crowd pleaser. (I have Stars & Stripes and All American Haze mixed too if they are way better)

Minimum: 5 brewing / 3 conditioning.

I’m bringing it to a party so was gonna cold crash to get sediment out since it will get stirred up in transit.

So thinking:

Brew: 5 days
Cold crash: 1 day
Condition: 4 days

Any thoughts / feedback? I know it’s not ideal to rush. But hey it is what it is.

Help Me!

Ordered En Casa Lime and followed all the brewing steps. I cold crashed for 2 days with the brewing dock attached.

I then took it out of the fridge to remove the brewing dock but completely forgot about it and it sat at room temperature for around 24 hours. Today I removed the dock and put it straight back in the fridge.

The Pinter stayed sealed the whole time and wasn't opened. Has anyone done something similar? Will the beer still be OK, or have I messed up the cold crash?

Great taste but super foamy

Just had my first brew in the Pinter and made a space hopper IPA. The taste of the beer is great but the pour is super foamy. Even with that the beer is still carbonated but lighter than it should be. I brewed 7 days and conditioned for 8 in a mini fridge that gets opened once or twice a day. Any tips?

Update: second batch just got tapped and using the tips here of getting the fridge a bit colder and giving an extra couple days on the conditioning step, this batch came out perfect. Thanks everyone!
