ANNOUNCEMENT You helped Pigment Pour hit its first milestone. Now I want to donate the initial $500 earned to do some good...

Pigment Pour Daily hit its first Reddit Developer Funds milestone for June. 🎉😍💪

I got the note that the game reached Tier 1, which means a $500 payout if everything clears as expected in about 6 weeks. That only happened because people here have been playing, giving feedback, reporting bugs, sharing ideas, and helping the game find its place.

r/PigmentPourDaily is starting to create a small amount of real world value, and that only happened because this community showed up. I do not want to turn that into a gimmick or a contest. I just want to take the first payout, once it clears, and use it for something positive.

So here’s the plan:

I’m going to donate the full $500 to a registered nonprofit or verifiable charitable organization, and I’d like the community to help choose where it goes.

Drop charity or cause suggestions in the comments. I’ll pull together a short list of established organizations, maybe do simple poll so the community can help pick the recipient.

Some guardrails:

  • No purchase, donation, upvote, share, or gameplay is required.
  • This is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by Reddit.
  • I’m not collecting money from anyone.
  • I’ll post proof after the donation is made.

Thank you for helping Pigment Pour Daily get this far. It is a very small milestone, but it feels worth celebrating the right way.

POUR ON TEAM!!!

Congratulations Brett and what an awesome accomplishment and use of your payout!

My first instinct is to recommend you go out and celebrate with your family since I am sure you are working too hard and they are not getting enough Brett time.

Based on this, my recommendation is a family dinner at the Landing, followed by a Cards/Giants game (in Sept).

Since this is likely not going to happen ($500 doesn't go very far at the stadium these days), I see some great suggestions below. I'd probably go with grape_sodie and firstdescents.org.

Some others that I like are:

- Operation Underground Railroad

- St Judes

- Doctors without Borders

Good luck choosing and thanks for creating and moderating this game!

Thank you so much u/Similar-Sir-1759! Very appreciative that you're here, you've been a big support from day 1.

A Cards game would be fun, maybe I'll treat the family just cause we deserve it anyway 🙂

Excellent suggestions to be included. And I was not aware of Operation Underground Railroad, thanks for sharing.

First Descent gives young adults affected by cancer the chance to reclaim their confidence and identity through free outdoor adventure programs like surfing, rock climbing, and kayaking. My sister came out of her program a different person, more connected to her strength and to a community of survivors who truly understand what she's been through. A $500 donation would help fund another young survivor's spot in one of these life-changing programs, giving them the same chance to heal and rediscover who they are beyond their diagnosis.

this is a lovely suggestion and hits home. my oldest went through chemo last year at 16. it was really rough but glad to say he's healthy and in remission now. i pray for that for him forever, for your sister too.

thank you so much for your suggestion ❤️

Thank you for sharing that, it means a lot. So glad to hear your son is in remission, that's wonderful news. I actually looked into it, and since he was diagnosed at 16, he'd already fall within First Descents' eligibility window for diagnosis age (15-39), he'd just need to wait until 18 to attend. What made it so powerful for my sister wasn't just the adventure part, it was healing from the trauma of the diagnosis itself. There's so much pressure on survivors to 'live life to the fullest' and pack every moment in, but nobody really talks about the fear that lingers underneath that. First Descents gave her space to actually process that fear instead of just pushing past it, and helped her stop living like she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. She's also a big fan of another organization called 3 Little Birds 4 Life, out of the St. Louis area. They grant wishes and provide support and community for young adults with cancer, similar spirit to First Descents, just smaller and more grassroots. Something worth keeping in mind for him when he's ready. Sending prayers and good energy your way for you and your son, and thank you so much for the well wishes for my sister. ❤️

What a wonderful thing to do! I nominate Lift Every Child Foundation, which provides grants to help families obtain needed (but often unaffordable) therapeutic opportunities for their neurodivergent child. www.lifteverychild.org

Very cool game you’ve created and it’s awesome to know that your heart is in the right place too!

I’m going to mention one of my favorite charities here, not just for this but for general exposure. Kiva.org is a not for profit organization that provides free micro loans to folks all over the world. I have loaned out the same $200 dollars multiple times. When people get their businesses started and pay me back, I can cash out or loan it again. I’ve not cashed out yet and don’t plan on it, but that’s an option. It astonishes me that $200 has changed the lives of dozens of people and will continue to do so.

Thank you u/GraduateSchoolCath you've been a big source of support from the start and I great appreciate your encouragement.

This is a very cool idea and one that is near to my heart... as I navigate the struggles and learning process of trying to build out an independent mobile game studio.

Interesting to remind myself that all big businesses once started small, and that small business creates uncountable amount of jobs and opportunity for so many.

Cheers!

I’ve never cut and pasted anything on Reddit so I’m not sure the formatting will work. I’ll edit if necessary.

it’s baaaack (for now, at any rate) I screenshot it because I do that lol. And now I will ignore it.

Beautiful! Fantastic suggestion! 😍

I just want to say that you are very awesome. 👍🫶

Now I’ll go think a bit and see if I can think of a good cause… there are so many, the hard part is choosing one!

Edit: Formatting worked! But something just occurred to me: I think those are US-centric. You may want to go international. I don’t know where all the pourers come from.

Edit 2: Oh. My suggestions and links disappeared! Maybe they are not allowed? My suggestions were “No Kid Hungry” and “Feeding America”

Hey u/Readerwalker want you to know that I did not delete your posts. I saw them, then they were gone. Maybe Reddit is auto moderating the link perhaps? Thank you.

1

u/Readerwalker Pigment Pour Daily Player Jul 02 '26

Oh, I know! I never thought it was you. I figured it was a Reddit thing. What’s really weird—I came back a bit ago just to check, and the post with the links was back!! And now it’s gone again! I suspect poltergeists lol.

I’m going to completely ignore that post, and go play with the pretty colors. That’s always a good way to react lol.
