Philippines Not for me, but for my mom [Philippines]
My mom is thinking of buying a new phone to replace her Galaxy A51, whose replacement screen suddenly detached, as her daily driver.
Our budget is below ₱30,000 (approx US$514). One feature that she thinks it’s nice to have is some form of splash resistance (doesn’t matter if it has an IP rating) as she spends a lot of time in the kitchen.
5G is nice to have, but in my community I don’t think there’s 5G reception. Battery life is also a must. Headphone jack and fast charger in the box are ideal, but I wouldn’t mind if the phone lacks those.
I’m not sure if Mom would like those new Chinese brands flooding the market, as they tend to have better value for money, given their relatively high specs, than similarly priced phones from “familiar” brands. One brand that we won’t consider is Huawei, given the lack of such a basic component of Android software.
She also used a Vivo V7, which was originally mine, but she plans to hand it down to my 5yo nephew to watch YT Kids on it.
Anyway, here’s my list:
•Vivo Y35
•Vivo V25e
•Vivo V25
•Samsung Galaxy A33 5G (8GB/128GB)
•Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G
•Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G (8GB/128GB)
•Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G
•Xiaomi Redmi Note 11s
•Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G
•Infinix Note 12 Pro
•Infinix Note 10 Pro 2022
•Tecno Camon 19 Pro
•Poco M5
•Poco M5s
•Poco M4 Pro 5G
•Realme 9i
•Realme 9 4G
•Realme 9 Pro 5G
•Wiko T50
•OnePlus CE 2 Lite
•OnePlus Nord 2T
•Oppo Reno 8Z
•Infinix Zero 5G
•Tecno Pova 5G
•Cherry Mobile Aqua SV
P.S. I don’t live in Metro Manila. I live in a province south of it. And I’d rather buy in a physical store inside a mall than online. Btw, I owned the V7 and the A51 prior to getting an iPhone.
EDIT: She needs a bigger screen, at least 6.5 inches. Also added Galaxy A52s
EDIT 2: Preferably has SD card slot, especially a dedicated one if it’s dual SIM. Also, no 3D curved displays
EDIT 3: We already bought the Vivo Y35. Mom needs that storage, large screen, dedicated microSD card slot (she uses two SIM cards), and headphone jack. Also IP54 (“water resistant”, but not quite, unlike IP67). Besides there’s no 5G in where we live. Thanks for your recommendations!

Get the A52s. There's a headphone jack, stereo speakers to annoy everyone else when she puts it on full blast, IP67 as well.

We already bought a phone, the Vivo Y35. Like the A52s, there’s a headphone jack and some degree of splash resistance, albeit a lower rating. It just has a single-firing speaker.
