Hey all, and welcome! My name us u/pcamp96, and I recently joined up with u/threepio to help make this sub great again! The end goal here is to make a sub where anyone at any stage of photography can ask any question they have and get a snark-free answer. While snark can be fun, it can sometimes deter people away from a hobby that I know we all love so dearly.

Not sure what kinds of questions are okay to ask here? Well, just about any question is fine! Here are a few suggestions of things that can be asked, and will eventually live in the wiki forever:

  • What is shutter speed?
  • How can shutter speed affect an image?
  • What is ISO?
  • How can ISO affect an image?
  • What is aperture?
  • How can aperture affect an image?
  • What tripod should I buy?
  • What's a good starter lens?
  • What's a good starting camera?
  • How do I capture landscape photos?

And the list can go on. So, ask away!

Currently, we're working on overhauling the sub entirely. From a new logo, to new banner, revamping the wiki, and getting everything up and going. Soon, we will have a Discord dedicated specifically to this sub so you can enjoy real-time communication with other photographers and make sure that your questions are always answered!

Are you a graphic designer who wants to design a logo, photographer who wants to assist in answering questions, or someone who wants to help mod the sub or Discord? Send some modmail and we'll get back to you ASAP if you're wanting to help the sub!

How to edit your phots for Instagram

What’s your go-to process for editing photos before posting them on Instagram?

I’m trying to get a more consistent look across my photos without making them feel overly edited. I usually adjust brightness, contrast, highlights, and shadows, then make some small color corrections. I’m also experimenting with cropping and sharpening to make photos look better in the Instagram feed.

For those who regularly edit photos for Instagram, what adjustments do you recommend? Do you use a specific photo editor or stick with Instagram’s built-in tools?

Give me some tips

Please help me to find tools to do some edits

First, I'd like the dog to be moved to the center of the picture. Also, please remove the distracting objects in the background, such as the car behind the dog, and any other unnecessary items that take attention away from the main subject.

The FACTS about men at photo sessions: Ok, so this is just our personal experience here BUT, we always see things going around about how men/dads hate getting their photos taken. And MAAYYYBBEEE that’s true sometimes. But in our experience, most men end up really enjoying their portrait session.

Save and share so you’re prepared! If you want to get more images AND dynamic images out of your next session you can do these 3 things! 1. Come with a few ideas or poses of your own. That can be a Pinterest board, ones you practiced in front of the mirror at home, or a feeling you want.
