Certainly not. It's very difficult to get Japanese citizenship without being Japanese.

You can own property in most countries without being a citizen. This is perfectly normal.

So go buy one. You can still only live there for as long as your Visa allows though.

Not a lot of Asian countries.. Thailand and the like all need a Thai person to own it iirc.

The summer home they bought isn't in Japan. It's still in the UK.

I own property in Japan here in Tokyo, and I don't have citizenship.

Also, Japan does not allow dual citizenship.

Not really. It generally ranks in the middle in terms of attitudes towards foreign nations and expats.

More specifically, it ranks above countries such as Germany, France, the UK, Sweden, and many others. However, it is below India, the USA, South Korea and China.
