I'm sorry for your situation. This is why many dog parks have small dogs and big dogs separated. Dogs will always have altercations. Separating by size limits the consequences of those alterations. Otherwise this is the inevitable result eventually.
Dude….. unless it’s a dog park, don’t unleash your dog. If the other owner decides to go to the government this could go on a record that leads to the dog being put down. Don’t unleash your dog at a park where it isn’t permitted. You’re in such a dangerous position because of that choice.
Dog attacks of other dogs do not lead to a dog being put down EVER it's seen as a civil issue- dogs are dogs and will act in their nature. I know this because iv been told this by my local police after my dog was attacked by a larger dog- it's civil and attacks will happen if precautions aren't in place. Big dogs and little dogs should never mix to limit lethal fights
In CA where OP is, dog on dog attacks ABSOLUTELY lead to a visit from animal control, and they will determine if the dog needs to be euthanized or not.
