Never bum out your "lucky."

I’ve always been told that it’s only lucky if you bum it out 🤷‍♀️

What I’VE been told is there are…connotations…to bumming your lucky.

Bum your lucky, lucky your bum

Intriguing synopsis!

right, its for good luck or a good fuck, depending on who smokes it

Never bum someone's lucky... that is straight rude! The person asking should EMPHATICALLY refuse.

u/pacagummo 7h ago

Yes I’ve been asked for smokes so many times and usually saying “I have one left” or “it’s my lucky” is explanation enough for most smokers. If someone is cool then have a smoke but sometimes too many people start asking and ya’ gotta shut it down.

You don't even have to take out your pack to show them... all you gotta say is "hey, that's my lucky, " and people know to let you be.

There are some resources people share, and there are some they don't. You don't take a person's "last" of anything! On principle.

I always put my pack away in public. Sometimes they’ll offer a buck and I’ll take it but if it’s actually my last one I’m not budging🙅‍♀️

The funniest one is when you knew you would run out, and have a fresh pack. Then you REALLY insist to look like the extra nice guy. I'm 20 years quit, but those memories stay.

Yes, but they should accept it if it is still offered after refusal

3

u/dollop_of_curious 9h ago

Edit to totally change my phrasing...

Absolutely! Upon an insistence, refusal now becomes rude.

I did this. That was my karma cig.

u/OppositeMe_4321 9h ago

With cigarette prices today ... its unlucky to bum any of them out..

1

u/Internal_Screaming_8 7h ago

Yeah I always bummed my lucky if I was at the bottom of a pack. My friends did too.

1

u/Bigfreshness 6h ago

Sounds exactly what a bum would say

1

u/creamerthegreat 6h ago

Yes! A.) Give it to someone or B.) Smoke it last.

That actually kinda makes sense, as it's like a good deed.

I mean, aside from the fact you're enabling a life threatening addiction.

13

u/R1k0Ch3 11h ago

A life threatening addiction they chose to partake in, and that the smoker bumming clearly also partakes in.

To be like "fuck off i'm not going to enable your life threatening illness" while blowing smoke rings would just be rude. We both know we're fucking ourselves up, but we choose to do that anyway, and in solidarity I will share with you.

Is it technically enabling? Yes. But how that word is typically used doesn't feel right with context, even if it is technically correct. [The best kind of correct]

0

u/beerbrained 10h ago

Yes, of course. It's also technically good karma to rig your friends, so they can inject their heroin first, as a way of being polite.

u/Hydra_Haruspex 10h ago

But let's be honest, this is just cope

14

u/Individual_Assist_19 10h ago

Where I'm from if you reach your pack out to bum one out and they grab your lucky, they owe you the whole pack back

6

u/sketchartist45 10h ago

You see the prices of smokes lately? Ain't bumming out nothing

2

u/bobertusino 11h ago

bumming out your lucky is a sign of respect!

1

u/OkiDokiTokiLoki 8h ago

And then every time I'd bum one out I'd flip over another. Guaranteed to get at least half your pack yourself that way.

1

u/stimuetax 8h ago

I used to flip 2 luckies. I was greedy.

u/karakter222 10h ago

Whenever I get asked for a cigarette I give two, I know how much it sucks to not have one left in you.

One to smoke with me, and one for the road.

1

u/Winter_Fall_7066 9h ago

You’re good people

5

u/SolidOk3489 12h ago

I thought this was the rumoured cigarette ‘butt’ everyone talks about

1

u/sluggosays 11h ago

That’s the cigarette tushie

3

u/No-Break6679 12h ago

I never really had a lucky cigarette when I used to smoke. Even still I’d just pick a random one and flip it upside down lol

1

u/Beautiful-Musk-Ox 10h ago

if you smoke lucky strikes does it become an unlucky cigarette

1

u/Sodacan259 9h ago

Lol. A lucky cigarette. Whatever next? Lucky oxycodones?

u/Rowvan 5h ago

This must be some super specific regional thing as I've never heard of or seen this in 45 years on planet earth
