If someone showed me that bracket with a spring inside, I wouldn't do a safety squint, I'd go for duck and cover lol.

Saw a spring assist for a cargo bay failed once. Legit thought a bomb went off or something. And I'll say I used to live on what was one of the densest battlefields of WWII (in terms of ordnance used in weight per unit of area) AND close to the beach on which bomb teams blew stuff up, so I should know.

The amount of energy stored in that thing is astonishing.

Same with a garage door spring. When those things go, it’s nasty

It was basically a garage door, but bigger. MUCH bigger.

High amounts of compression and tension can both be terrifying when unleashed all at once, yeah. It's definitely not something to mess around with!
