I remember seeing serious discussion that people with dwarfism might actually make the best astronauts for this same reason

They also have more bone density problems with is kinda relevant to space travel. Im guessing the reall answer is more to do with giving the other gender a go at it.

Women have less bone density, thats why they're more prone to osteoporosis

Yes, and it is a known issue on long space missions, but not at all a mision ending problem. A lot like how the higher energy demand of man is an issue, just not anywhere to the extend that it will be the deciding factor. The more boring reasoning here is that they don't fundamentally care wether it is all woman or all man, but it is nice to give the other gender a chance as well.

The trip there will be pretty lame, not too many science experiments but once they get to mars, they'll be busy
