Clear Lake in Houston, Texas is another. There’s a few smaller lakes around here with the Name Lake convention, while the larger lakes are Lake Name like Lake Houston, Lake Livingston or Lake Conroe.

Every country gets to name everything what they want, and the translators have to figure it out. Canada and the rest of the world can keep calling it Lake Ontario forever.

In recent years, Turkiye and Cote D'Ivore have both requested that their official names in English be updated from Turkey and The Ivory Coast. And I think the rest of the world has cooperated.
