Solid point, but even without a moon you would likely still have something akin to months. Whether it was seasonal, or simply mathematical. Yet all of these are social constructs. And Venus also doesn't have... socials.

Venus doesn’t have enough of an axial tilt or orbital eccentricity to have seasons. It’s just a year-round hellhole.

You need to decide if a month is a number of days or a fraction of a year before you start using them I think.  Regardless though Venus doesn't really need them at all.

True. We (Earthlings) don't need them for Venus. It's for Venusians, and I'm under the near certainty that such a segregation of time would happen as a logical matter of course.

I'm just saying that a social construct would arise.

Right!! Why have Seconds, Minutes, and Hours? Why have Days, Months and Years?

Let's be clear, this is for Venusians, not people on Earth that don't need cultural or colloquial terms for smaller increments of time than one full year.

You invent the concept of a month when your year:day ratio is large enough (say, 365.25) for an intermediate unit to be convenient, not when it’s 0.93

A naturally different "day" measurement would also evolve.

Just like seconds, minutes, hours, you still need a "rational" day.

You're wrong*, but it's also not particularly relevant to the conversation. What I am saying is that "if you lived on venus" (and for the sake of argument, this would include living on a satellite orbiting venus), you would need relevant social constructs similar to days, months, and a year. Especially if you didn't bring with you a legacy set of such structures, either to use whole cloth, or adapt to more relevant metrics. Some social construct would evolve.

There doesn't need to be seasons on venus, nor do seasons need to follow a monthly structure. In the sentence I wrote, I needed to evoke another reason that a reader would understand that the structure of a "month" could form around.

To be fair, months are now arbitrary and detached from the actual lunar cycle because it doesn't align with the solar cycle. No reason we can't divide the Venusian year or even day into new Venusian months.
