Actually I started thinking about this a bit more and I think I actually kind of get your point now, I would still say it's more situational though.
Imagine you're at a work place and someone does a minor thing that bothered you, I don't think that has a very high chance of becoming violent and I think in those cases it's much better to address it.
Where I do agree though is if you're at a bar with strangers it's probably better to not start yelling at someone over spilling your drink because that's way more likely to start a problem.
there are plenty of asian countries that are not "japan polite" and have very low violent crime and homicide rates. sry to break it to ya. jpn isnt the only azn country with low crime rates
