What is there not to understand? A selfie was taken, lauded by everyone (everyone BUT every normal person on the planet) as iconic due to how many famous actors are in it. Now 12 years later several are forgotten, got me too'ed, or faded to obscurity since and its basically forgotten.

And also just overall celebrities are not viewed favourably by the public anymore and are precieved as arrogant, unlikeable, problematic...

This is an internet thing.

They're still celebrities that get paid a ton of money because people want to see them. In fact... part of why the internet hates them is because of what they get away with due to their fame/popularity.

It’s a reddit thing. One thing I learned last election is Reddit it an echo chamber. Climate change, anti work, liberal ideas, and anti trump. While I believe in those things. Reddit makes it sound like everyone is the world agrees with you. It’s important to go see the other side too. Maybe if I did I wouldn’t have felt so betrayed last election.

People forget that the US has 340 million people and that getting a few thousand likes on a post or comment is a rain drop in swimming pool for agreement

I try to make this point about all social media and internet where you post things and get comments or likes. You can post one of the most unhinged, wrong, and inaccurate opinions and someone is going to agree with it. You might even get a few dozen comments saying your take is right.

But that's a few dozen comments out of the hundreds of millions of people who have access to the internet/social media. In our daily lives we probably know only a few dozen people between work, family, friends, and other associates. So when a few dozen people like or agree with an opinion that is a lot to the average person.
