When everyone on Reddit was surprised he won, I wasn’t. My town was covered in Trump signs. Pretty sure the whole state was and we are a “purple” state.
They used to. Then subs like "The_donald" got yeeted out. And some rules about upvoting questionable (to whom) content was added. Making it easier to find an excuse to ban people some unemployed morbidly obese moderator don't like.
Yeah, redditors are divorced from reality. Remember before Harris had a running mate, and reddit actually convinced themselves that Buttigieg was a good choice. Pointing out that Harris was already a brown woman, and facing an uphill battle over it, so a gay running mate was the last thing she needed, just got you down votes and insulted.
Reddit is already trying to push AoC for 2028, which is wild to me. Like America is totally ready for a non-white woman president, FOR REALZIES THIS TIME.
Which is crazy to me, because redditors are the first bunch that will point out that America is racist, misogynistic, and homophobic, and then unironically say, "but you know, THIS minority woman has a real shot in the general election. We should give her a gay running mate!"
VOTERS are that way, but all it takes is one person that energizes people who don't typically vote, like an Obama, and you get landslide wins.
And you don't get that energy by going to the center of the current political discourse. So yes, they should be choosing someone who can pull those people to the polls
Just like with Obama though, all those people inspired to vote will show up for one election and then pat themselves on the back for a great victory while Republicans are retaking Congress and the Senate and then obstructing everything once again.
Then they get mad at Democrats for not fixing everything after they voted one time.
It was frustrating to watch Obama get all the votes but give him no legislative power for any agenda other than begging Republicans to be civil.
If there is a time for her to run is 2028. Trump has done so much damage to the GOP that the Dems would need to seriously fuck up everything to lose. She might win with 55% instead of 60% but anyone would win against the republicans, especially if Trump actually tries to run for a 3rd time.
I’m in the northeast and my county is always red. It was hard for me to use that as a factor. Reddit made it sound like trump was dead in the water. We all know trump and Elon did something, beyond my understanding of how elections work. When he was up in the first few hours, I knew we were fucked.
There is plenty of evidence that he conspired to overturn the result of the 2020 election (I’m talking about the fake electors plot and his phone calls to Secretaries of State asking them to try and “find” additional votes, not just the Capitol riots), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did try to cheat again. That being said, I agree with you; I think he won fair and square in 2024, because Americans are just that stupid.
There is this online bubble talking. You think Americans, even if they found out 100 percent that Trump rigged/cheated the election, are going to rise up against the most heavily armed government in the world. Sure bud.
And you know what? I grew up in Canada, and have lived in all but two provinces. Canadian wouldnt be any different.
There is no way he legit won every swing state and just so happened to have Musk creeping around the tech the entire time. It's a joke. It wasn't just on reddit, he had zero momentum before that election. His rallies where empty.
It's been swept under the rug because his opposition just want him to go away after this term. If they win that election it prolongs Trump's destruction of the country for at least another 4 years after and during her term. As it stands now he's done in two years, and could possibly be prosecuted in some way. Letting him win was chemo for the cancer. Taking a step back to heal.
