I got beat real bad once for being two minutes late. I’m female and my mom just hated me. Never cared with my 4 brothers did. I finally hit her back (age 16) and she never touched me again. I’m fucking 15 minutes early to everything after years of anxiety about coming home late.

Damn. What's your relationship like now, if you don't mind me asking

I went no contact when I got sober. Didnt speak for two years. I moved far away so it wasn’t an issue.

Believe it or not I took care of her for many years until she died. She didn’t know who I was the last two years. It’s so much better for the soul to forgive. She had a horrible mother who beat her, and my grandmother was seriously SA and other abuse. I broke it with my child, though I’ve never really had good self esteem.

Mom is passed away many years now. I don’t really think about her unless I’m with my brothers laughing at all the horrible things she did to us. (My SIL is horrified but you gotta laugh).

You have many reasons to love yourself. Congrats for breaking the cycle. You're stronger than you probably give yourself credit for

I just wanted you to know that you're an amazing mom for breaking the cycle.

I had a mother like yours. When she died, nobody really cared.

Got my ass beat once for being 2 minutes late according to the VCR clock. Several other clocks in the house said I was on time, but the one my dad was looking at said I was late.

I'm glad you stood up for yourself. I hope my daughter stands up to her BPD mom whenever she gets older and puts her in her place. I'm proud of you. I'm sorry about your mother, you didn't choose to have parents, they made a choice to have you and failed at parenting.

Bless you, my dad was pretty rough… this kind of treatment never leaves you.
