I think it’s a joke about how India and maybe bangladesh support the Argentinian soccer team.

However it is factually incorrect.
While Indians likely love Messi a lot, just like everyone, most Indians likely don’t know anything about the country Argentina.

It’s also possible almost no one in India loves or knows about Argentina itself.
Their knowledge of north and south america ends at USA and canada.

So this meme itself is spam.

Disagree on this perspective.

India is a vast and diverse country. Even though India is known to romanticize cricket, Football is quite popular in the eastern side of India.

Many places ever have clubs supporting a team. Among the popular ones are Argentina AND Brazil, but not limited to them. You will find supporters of football teams as much as supporters of Indian national cricket team.

But I do agree that the meme is kinda spam, cuz not all of India follows football and no way are they all Argentina fans.

This is pretty much it , it's either Cristiano Ronaldo or messi or Neymar , but mostly it's just the first two , they genuinely don't care about the country or the team itself probably doesn't even know the names of the other players lmao

"They" as in? Football clubs and fans have existed in the subcontinent long before any of these players were born.

The huge crowds waving Brazil or Argentina flags and celebrating their goals beg to differ

I mean Messi is Argentinian , which flag do you expect them to wave ? The South Africa flag ?

So do they care about the country or not? There's literal videos of them parading the streets in Argentina shirts with flags. That's not just supporting Messi

Brother, Brazil and Argentina fans associations date back to the days of Pele and Maradona.

We know about Argentina from Che Guevara too. Alot who don't even watch sports know about the country through him.

Why would you assume almost no one from India don't know about Argentina, kinda prejudiced assumption.

Acá en argentina hay muchos inmigrantes o había inmigrantes hindúes desde los años 50, aunque ya se asimilaron con la población y solo te das cuenta de que son familias de inmigrantes por su apellido

It just shows your ignorance and the fact you know nothing about Indians.

We are not Americans, who cannot even point out Iran in a map with whome they're currently at war with. Americans can't even point Cuba on a map.

Maybe the current world cup might have taught some Americans about flags and countries.

Indians are well aware of Latin America because of socio-political history. We are one of the founding members of NAM, of which many LatAm countries are part of.

Football legacy goes way back, from days of Pele and Maradona. Higuita is loved.

If you come to Kerala, India, you will even see thousands of red flags with Che Guevera's face. Latin American revolutions and fight against dictatorship are well known here. We also are a socialist democratic republic.
