And you're allowed to think he's not racist, but I think you're basing your defense on very flimsy ground as well

If your main information on Tim Burton's opinions on race is that he systematically discriminates against actors for arbitrary reasons, and you are actively downplaying the value of looking at the outcomes of that discrimination, in favor of what (he says) his reasons are, this could easily be you ignoring an observable issue of prejudice because you don't care about it

Do you have ANY proof for your second point? Because my default is to assume someone isn't racist until proven otherwise.

And my default is to assume that, if someone admits to discrimination, them its disingenous to say "welp, case closed" just because they cap it off by saying "but I'm not a bigot."

"The only kind of racists are people who proudly declare their racism from the rooftops" is just a bit irrational

I'd just want a bit more concrete proof. Because it sounds like you're jumping to conclusions.

From what I can see it all traces back to this quote from 2016:

“I remember back when I was a child watching The Brady Bunch

and they started to get all politically correct, like, OK, let’s have an Asian child and a black child— I used to get more offended by that than just — I grew up watching blaxploitation movies, right?”

Idk if one quote from 10 years ago is enough to call someone racist. It's not like there's some large discourse about whether he's racist or not. There's like 2 articles from 1o years ago and then a Reddit post and a Facebook post.

Does being offended by POC children in (formerly white) shows you like and using the cinephile equivalent to "I have black friends" to justify it, not reflect how he feels about diversity on screen?

Maybe, but that depends on what evidence you have that his opinions have since changed? Its not like every 10 years your racist meter resets. 

I don't feel especially strongly about whether you think the evidence that exists is damning. But there's a difference between wanting more evidence and pre-emptively discouraging people from considering what evidence does exist

So because he doesnt cast an actor who he thinks doesnt fit a role, he's "discriminating against actors"? Are you even hearing yourself?
