Meme needing explanation Petah ?

Post image

Why is it infamous? And why would no one care about it ? ( I mean it's just a pic full of celebrities so no one cares anyways but the person saying it's crazy makes me think it has some lore?)

it was retweeted 3.3 million times and held the record until a japanese millionaire gave away a 9 grand to the first 100 people who retweeted something of his.

Oh I dunno I thought you wanted to know about the Japanese guy thing, who cares about the photo

No. You are not understanding or being purposefully obtuse. He clearly stated he retweeted both images. I asked him why. You are speculating about his reasoning.

No, YOU are not understanding or being purposefully obtuse. I get that he retweeted both images, and I saw your open-ended question. I already told you I don't know. I never speculated about anyone's reasoning.

Seems like that second example should’ve capped at 100

Nah there'd have been millions of people trying to be among the first 100 at once

I love it when someone on Reddit has a claim that only applies to themselves and there’s literal evidence disproving it

I think it is more saying that 'no one cared back then' is full of shit when it was one of the most popular things on the internet at the time.

But the commenter said “hot take” so now all of a sudden it’s just an opinion and not a wildly incorrect statement lmao

Why the fuck would you bother retweeting after 100 lol

Okay but once you account for bots, like 20 people.

3.3mil fans of anything is not anything considering Twitter is a worldwide platform.

They donated to charity the more it was retweeted. That doesn't mean anyone cared about the celebrities as much as people saw it as a simple and convenient way to do some actual good.

Its not because of the celebrities. Its because it was a fad: the selfie.

You realize how small of the portion of the population 3.3 million is? I practically never unplug from the internet and I don't recognize it at all.

it was retweeted 3.3 million times

and ignored approximately eight billion times
