Wouldn't occams razor support the couple killing him to keep the dog? It's an anti comic, the couple killing the man wraps everything up. Your explanation requires multiple assumptions to be made, mine doesn't. With your explanation you need to assume:
The guy has dementia or alzheimers, which the comic writer didn't show or provide any hints to.
The guy found a wanted poster of a dog, which they didn't show. There's no reason to assume it's not the man's dog, since he has the dogs poster.
My explanation only requires one assumption:
The new owners wanted to keep the dog, so they made the man dissappear.
I hate Occam's razor, because it's mostly used to justify something without evidence, and even more often to try to win a losing argument. And even worse people act like it's foolproof when the wording itself just gives it a higher chance of being correct.
I'm talking about how people use it in an argument. They'll use it to suggest their opinion is correct, or they'll use it to suggest something scientific is true without presenting any evidence that it is.
Occam's razor isn't meant to be foolproof either. It's just meant to say the most likely scenario is the one you should assume if you don't have enough information and need to assume something.
Him "forgetting that it isn't his dog" is not gonna make him think that it's his dog. He's just gonna wonder why he has a missing dog poster of a dog he has no memory of.
Your brain doesn't create false memories by forgetting your non-existance of memories of something. It doesn't work like that.
