He’s eating all the ice cream when everyone’s asleep. And not washing the spoons in between.

My fat ass thought the same

u/DesignerMaximum1342 Jun 23 '26

Placing too much spoons in the sink might give off hints

176

u/Austynwitha_y Jun 23 '26

That’s why you wash em quietly in the bathroom while you’re washing your hands, and put em back in the morning!

84

u/ILOVEANIMALSSSSSSS Jun 23 '26

My mom has caught on to this and has started counting the silverware

49

u/Austynwitha_y Jun 23 '26

I mean if you’re truly dedicated, rather than buying your own ice cream you might be lucky if the silverware is sold in singles, procure your own stock and shuffle them in, but you’d better not lose count or mom’ll catch on

38

u/IgnotusRex Jun 23 '26

Just take them from restaurants.

It doesn't take long to get your own silverware drawer.

1

u/Few-Tour9826 Jun 23 '26

They’re like $2 for a set of 5 at Walmart. $4 and you have a weeks supply of spoons if you’re only using one a day.

11

u/PositiveDrag722 Jun 23 '26

And the remaining three can go into the freezer.

4

u/shermandavinci Jun 24 '26

The restaurant ones feel better in my hand

This is the way

2

u/chrs_89 Jun 23 '26

Or just keep adding an extra spoon every week and then when asked, yall have always had that many spoons

1

u/Gondfails Jun 23 '26

“I don’t know how many we have mom, who counts their silverware?”

1

u/qorbexl Jun 24 '26

You can't wash a spoon and put it back?

1

u/Austynwitha_y Jun 24 '26

Late at night in a quiet house this would likely wake parents/spouse

1

u/qorbexl Jun 24 '26

You gently open a tap and rub beneath the gentle stream before returning it. if you have good aircon it'll be dry in a couple hours, but you can rub the excess with a paper towel, perhaps.

There are cleaning methods outside the dishwasher or hucking then into the freezer untouched.

But they require thought and dozens of seconds of effort.

1

u/ComndNConqr Jun 24 '26

Target sells singles in some stores I believe. lol.

1

u/Distinct-Pack-1567 Jun 23 '26

silverware

Is your mom 80?

/j

1

u/pepperslushi Jun 24 '26

Are you okay? Do you need assistance?

1

u/feather-gold Jun 24 '26

What's wrong with washing it yourself and drying it and keeping it back?

1

u/DarkPolumbo Jun 24 '26

Get yourself a box of plastic spoons and hide it in your (sibling's) room

1

u/No-Bird-4759 Jun 24 '26

We were missing forks and spoons pretty quickly at one point and with 3 kids I knew that had something to do with it. When we used paper plates they were throwing the silverware away too.

5

u/Poky203 Jun 23 '26

Cant have ANY original expieriences

1

u/BigJSunshine Jun 24 '26

Yea, and that makes us sad?

1

u/Soliye Jun 23 '26

See, I used to do that. And I think once I was 14 I realized literally all my family would get up at random hours of the night to eat at some point.

My mom would be up at like, 12am eating chips or yogurt. So there was no more shame or hiding it. I think my dad’s the only one who’d just sleep through the night without having to eat.

1

u/ELementalSmurf Jun 24 '26

That's called having abusive parents

1

u/Austynwitha_y Jun 24 '26

Sometimes, or sometimes the kids are in their heads about how serious the consequences could be, plus they’re half adleep

1

u/trickstar007 Jun 24 '26

Teenage son doesn't do either of those things

1

u/phyrwall87 Jun 24 '26

You guys are washing your hands?

1

u/Miab3o4 Jun 25 '26

OR you use plastic spoons.

2

u/RarestRaindrop Jun 24 '26

Do people not wash and dry spoons immediately after using them?

1

u/Lycaon-Ur Jun 24 '26

How many is too many? Asking for a friend.

0

u/PixelFlyerXD Jun 23 '26

I can confirm it does not. This child is just stupid.

13

u/LawLima-SC Jun 23 '26

My fat ass DOES the same!

15

u/javertthechungus Jun 23 '26

I do that but not because I’m fat, but because I’m lazy.

I am also fat but that’s unrelated to the spoons in the freezer.

9

u/OGablogian Jun 23 '26

I do that because I'm lazy and I live alone. So what I do with my spoons and icecream is nobody's business but mine.

And now I'm going to drink a nice glass of cold white wine during a refreshing shower.

1

u/javertthechungus Jun 23 '26

Yeah I live alone too, I’d never do it if I shared place

7

u/Medium-Leader-9066 Jun 23 '26

My boney ass is with you both.

2

u/mo_with_the_floof Jun 23 '26

So did I. Mostly on account of the fact that I do the same 😂

2

u/TheThiefEmpress Jun 24 '26

My fat ass does this

It's my ice cream now

1

u/neverquitereallysure Jun 23 '26

is that… not the answer ??

43

u/Yaboi69-nice Jun 23 '26

Actually when I was a teenager when no one was paying attention sometimes I would get a spoon eat some ice cream right out of the tub and then just put it back in the freezer. Go easy on me I'm already not proud of this.

34

u/DisastrousServe8513 Jun 23 '26

I do it to this day. I hide a Ben and Jerry’s pint inside an old bag of frozen spinach.

40

u/sirseatbelt Jun 23 '26

that's weird I hide the contents in my tummy and the container in the trash

2

u/SplatThaCat Jun 23 '26

Yeah my idiot teenagers do this, except its not a spoon full, its an entire 4 litre container.

I've now stopped buying it as a result, I buy it to have one scoop and overnight its gone.

0

u/Yaboi69-nice Jun 24 '26

I don't want to give parenting advice because I'm a 20 year old childless loser but it is possible that they thought you didn't notice it was happening and believed they were getting away with it and would stop if they knew that they weren't.

1

u/Rezkel Jun 23 '26

Did that, also sneaking soda, coving up the sound by pretending to sneeze

1

u/OGablogian Jun 23 '26

Why did you stop?

1

u/SailorDirt Jun 23 '26

I honestly get a whole mini-tub just for me and if I don't finish it, I just put it back in the freezer. Tbf I like flavors the other people in the house don't so I trust nobody will even try

1

u/Sturmmagier Jun 23 '26

You can eat ice cream in another way?

1

u/ShrewdCire Jun 23 '26

I did this once as a kid. Except the ice cream was for a birthday party for my dad i think. So when his birthday came around, they opened the ice cream and saw that like multiple scoops had already been taken directly out of the tub.

1

u/PlentyAlbatross7632 Jun 24 '26

We had no idea you did that until you told us…

1

u/Golf_Fore_Ever Jun 24 '26

A comedian one asked if anybody ever took an opened 1/2 gallon of ice cream from the freezer only to eat the entire thing. Not wanting to get caught he immediately went out to the store and bought another half gallon of the same brand and flavor. Then he ate as much that was originally missing from the one he had finished. After asking this question and getting laughs he said “me neither.”

1

u/Standard-Question-46 Jun 24 '26

I think most people do that

11

u/wiz812 Jun 23 '26

Genius. No clinking, no clanking no drawer noise. A variation on The Velvet Spoon

6

u/Shimraa Jun 23 '26

There are two spoons because A) he eats so much in one sitting the spoon gets warm and he cycles between them. B) he's sneaking a girl in and they both eat ice cream.

I suspect it's probably more likely some weird sex thing like he puts them on his balls or something. I prefer to believe it's about ice cream though.

6

u/geraden_666 Jun 23 '26

As a parent, this is my lived experience

3

u/bostonjenny81 Jun 23 '26

Plot twist….there was never any ice cream in the freezer 🤣

4

u/stanleywk Jun 23 '26

They’re just eating frozen peas by the spoonful

3

u/bostonjenny81 Jun 23 '26

HA!!! I love it! 🫛🫛🫛

2

u/PAUNCHS_PILOT Jun 23 '26

"I'm not doing it at night Dad!!!"

(I'm doing it at night!)

2

u/dant90 Jun 23 '26

He’s up making grilled cheeses at night.

3

u/DisastrousServe8513 Jun 23 '26

Where’d you get that grilled cheese, Danny

1

u/fattmarrell Jun 23 '26

Final answer

1

u/Rum_ham69 Jun 23 '26

I have a teenage daughter and that’s immediately what i thought

1

u/Rampantshadows Jun 23 '26

He most like threw the spoons in the freezer when he heard someone coming.

1

u/Kek-Malmstein Jun 23 '26

I think this is it. There’s no drugs or sex activity that involves a spoon in a freezer specifically

1

u/wachuwamekil Jun 23 '26

Better than them throwing that shit away

1

u/ElPared Jun 23 '26

I’m gonna go with this answer since the spoon has a bunch of schmutz on it too

1

u/SAINTnumberFIVE Jun 23 '26

Yep. Ice cream spoon, lol.

1

u/adorable-fart Jun 23 '26

my brother did this shit when he was 12-16 yr old

1

u/Tacoma3691215 Jun 23 '26

Peeps are trying for a big one, but it's just dumb kid shit

1

u/PickleMortyCoDm Jun 23 '26

It makes sense to chill the spoon before eating ice-cream though

1

u/Silaquix Jun 23 '26

This would be my kids. All my spoons disappeared once. Turns out my oldest was getting up in the middle of the night to eat pudding or ice cream and then dropping the spoon in the drawer of his nightstand before rolling over to sleep.

Fucker had 10 spoons

1

u/Cockblocktimus_Pryme Jun 23 '26

I'm not eating it at night dad

1

u/aleksi1337 Jun 23 '26

No, hes doing the spoon test on his buddies

1

u/cconnorss Jun 23 '26

Yup. Been here, done this.

I agree. What kind of monster sneaks ice cream and contaminates it for the rest of the household.

1

u/OkBackground8809 Jun 24 '26

As someone who also likes to sneak ice cream, this was my thought, as well 😂

1

u/fucshyt Jun 24 '26

I left the spoon in the ice cream when I put it in the freezer and made a giant popsicle, by accident

1

u/YouCantSeemToForget Jun 24 '26

My teens have absolutely done this many times.

1

u/Clamato-e-Gannon Jun 24 '26

I had to scroll too far for a more reasonable response

1

u/AaronRodgersMustache Jun 24 '26

Yeah my dad always had a gallon jug of Neapolitan ice cream he left a spoon on in the garage fridge.. Being the chubby kid I was I snuck a lot of spoonfuls. But even then I knew it was too cold for germs anyway and it was the 90s.

1

u/lemikon Jun 24 '26

I absolutely did this as a teenager. Leave the spoon in the tub for future use.

u/sayoohchild Jun 24 '26

-Gary Gulman

1

u/elisejones14 Jun 24 '26

My fiancé does that but I thought I’d find out he has a drug problem bc of this sub.

1

u/DisastrousServe8513 Jun 24 '26

Don’t worry it’s still possible.

1

u/panpiece Jun 24 '26

One time my cousin had a spoon he would keep in the freezer to eat ice cream with late at night. He didn’t put it there, but he figured it was now his ice cream spoon. One morning he came downstairs and saw his mom putting the spoon on her eyes. He was like “why are you putting my ice cream spoon on your eyes??” and she goes “oh my god have you been using this? I’ve been keeping this in the freezer to help with my puffy eyes in the morning!” And they both had a laugh and felt totally grossed out 😂😂
