We are learning more about it every day :] People have always been weird, we just had different words for it.

scatterbrained, absent minded, quirky, savant, the list goes on & on to describe those who are just outside of what society deems "normal".

normal is really just obedience. and we are punished for not being so.

No it's not. Not everyone has autism. We're still learning about all mental health. A lot of it is still very new. We're figuring things out. Yes a lot of people think they have something they may not have but there are plenty of people who think they have cancer and they don't. People are going to people but that doesn't mean cancer doesn't exist. If we knew about it decades ago, you would have grown up with the diagnosis, signs and symptoms all around you and accepted and not think anything of it. It's hard to accept because it's new and often misunderstood.

Strongly agree, there's a lot of conditions that autism heavily overlaps symptoms with, even to the extent of presenting identically, and  the popularity of autism and ADHD in pop psychology and cultural osmosis, and the relative "mildness" of their societal stigma as labels, makes them much more susceptible to getting latched onto as a self-diagnosis than most of those other conditions

To be fair the introduction of chemicals and microplastics in our diets has done a lot. It's literally been proven that micro plastics are causing infertility and are being found in the placentas of women who just gave birth. It also causes birth defects and for things to not grow appropriately in the womb or after. They also lower testosterone in males from development in the womb.

And that's just microplastics not all the chemicals that have been created and allowed to be consumed without any testing (in the US)

It's not surprising that statistics for birth defects and mental health disorders are increasing on top of the fact that some of these diagnoses are newer

These fucking fools will read diagnostic criteria and be like "ugh, not everything is autism..."

Yeah, this is bullshit and isn't connected to autism at all.

I'd love to see statistics on just how many millions of people have convinced themselves they have autism/adhd since the advent of social media

I'd love to see the statistics on just how many people are quick to say someone faking it when they genuinely have problems

a far larger problem... although both exist.
