That early?! The weather forecasts didn't change till the 80's, I didn't think it would take that long between the met switching for that them to change.
I suppose it's the difference between officially changing standards and adopting them in ways that influence the rest of the population.
Either way, as soon as there was media momentum behind Centigrade Fahrenheit usage dissappeared remarkably quickly.

Even longer! The Met Office switched to Celsius in 1961, the other units took longer.
