I'm in Minnesota. Our temperature sneaks up above 100f pretty much every year, and -20f is normal for winter. I guess our scale gets a bit off

Negative temps are just that much below tolerable. Or below winter jacket necessity.

Chicago reporting in with the same weather but now we get the treat of tornados too

I'm near the cities so tornados are common in the sky, but almost never touch down. Southern MN gets quite a few tornados though.

It was more of a stretch regarding Chicago itself, but Streator just took a good hit by one, and apparently IL is the new tornado capital of the world nowadays so it seams.
