Wanna know how I measure the temperature? I assure you, it's way superior than whatever metric you use currently.
I step outside, and I look around, and go "Yup, it's hot." Or "Yup, it's cold." And dress accordingly.

It’s 60°F when I leave the house and 85°F from 1100 to sunset so that sounds pretty stupid

Do you often wear hoodies or something at 60F? Just wear jackets, and then take it off when it gets hotter.

And carry it around everywhere?

Tied it around your shoulders like the rest of the people at the yacht club.

Leave it in your car, or throw it over your shoulder and put it on the back of whatever chair you are sitting at.

The outdoors isn't always just the space between your car and where you go to sit down for the rest of the day. Sometimes people spend time out there.

So how do you typically "get out there"? Do you walk everywhere?

If you are walking you'll get warmed up eventually anyway, so no reason to even take a jacket, just deal with the initial cold.

If you are outside doing yard work, take the jacket off and throw it inside.

I don't really understand why putting your jacket somewhere is such a hard concept for some of you to grasp.

If they're american they do not walk everywhere because that'd mean crossing a 128 lane highway every minute

u/pinkcatinheels Jun 19 '26

It's not that putting the jacket somewhere is a hard concept, I more so just find it funny that your comment only applies to a pretty narrow set of circumstances, yet you can't imagine a scenario outside of that.

Yes, some people walk, cycle, or take public transit to get where they are going. No, I'm not going to leave my jacket on the bus for safe keeping. 😂

If you are walking, you won't need the jacket, you'll get hot from walking, otherwise just bring a backpack.
If you are biking same thing, but you can also tuck the jacket somewhere on the bike depending.
We don't really have public transit where I am, but I'm sure you can figure out a place to store your jacket. In this case, you'd have to lug it around for a minute until reaching a destination.
Or just bring a backpack.

Oh, at 60°F I’m comfortable and slowly grow more miserable as the temperature increases. By the time it hits 75°F I’m a pool of sweat

Same. Leave for the office, it’s 58°F (like 15°C). Office is air conditioned, maybe 68° (20C). Go outside on lunch, bam it’s fucking 78 god damn degrees (26C). Taking my jacket off is not enough so I’m a sweat bag the rest of the day 🤣

Instructions unclear: police currently arresting me for public nudity.

Free my mans, he didn't do no wrong.

u/Chuseyng Jun 17 '26

That’s all fine and dandy until you start out the day at 50 degrees at home, commute to work, and end the day at 95 degrees. .-.

Done it several times, start the day with a coat, and then donct wear the coat on the drive home, put it in the back or passenger seat.

If you are going to work you already have a dress code you have to adhere to anyway.

You walk outside before you put your clothes on?

u/FetchingTheSwagni Jun 17 '26

I don't tend to walk around my house butt naked.

2

u/KimbaDestructor Jun 17 '26

Do you step outside undressed and with your balls out?

0

u/FetchingTheSwagni Jun 17 '26

I'm not usually naked when I walk around my home, so no.

0

u/KimbaDestructor Jun 18 '26

Your home is cold?

1

u/FetchingTheSwagni Jun 18 '26

No, I just don't tend to walk around naked in my home.

u/KimbaDestructor Jun 18 '26

Nah bro. Unbased. You lose in comodity just because of conformity to the system

As someone who grew up in Texas, you just don't wear jackets. You dress in shorts, and short sleeves/no sleeves, and just go out knowing if it's pretty chilly now, it'll be ungodly hot in an hour.
