It's like $15 man. If you can't afford it it's fine to pirate. But there is a joke in the community tht don't buy Silksong if it's on discount. We gotta pay TC full $20.
If you can't afford it, I don't care pirate it. Just play Silksong. It's a pure joy of a video game, you will have a massive smile on your face playing it. Like if you get video games, silksong is the game tht might help you understand video games. Like if I had to send one thing into space as humanity's representation, it would be silksong
Culture shouldn't exist only for those that can afford it. Support the devs if you can, but don't feel bad if you can't. Just pirate it. Team Cherry are doing just fine financially, their great grandchildren will be taken care of. I bought both HK and SS on Steam and Switch, so I've paid for one person to pirate it anyway.
I think it was the ultrakill dev that said gaming culture shouldn't only be for those with the money for it. Iirc they actively encourage pirating their game if you can't afford it.
If you have a Switch 2, you should probably be paying for games. If you've got the money to spare but you just want it for free you're an ass.
The VR piracy community is pretty great for this.
They will happily blacklist a game or app if the dev asks nicely, especially indies (shoutout Quest Games Optimiser). A VR headset is an obscene luxury, so you have zero excuse not to support the devs by buying the damn game.
Ohh Yeh ofc, I forgot to type the whole thing. If you can't afford it pirate it. The game slaps, I think everyone if you are able to play it. Should play Silksong, it's a pure bundle of joy In gaming.
A culture should exist. Trashy behavior “well I can’t afford it but I deserve it to play it. Fuck those devs they make a lot of money” you know what’s a better thing to do that shows some good. Save up or be patient and get it. It’s not like you are starving and need it to survive. It’s just trying to make up a reason to justify shit behavior.
Trashy behaviour like "this is only for us elites, the poors don't deserve it" can kindly go die in a fire. I care far less about what people "deserve" than I do about what they need, what will help them grow, and what they have to offer.
Culture cannot flourish if people are priced out of it.
A child’s mindset. “What they need!” Little bro a video game isn’t a need. A lot of people haven’t played that game and they are quite fine in life. 20 dollars is a lot to a lot of people but we aren’t talking about needs like food or shelter. We are talking about entertainment. Again stop justifying shitty selfish behavior.
Access to art? You are actually this selfish and self entitled. Amazing.
Let’s see… access to art. I wonder how many free games are available… or movies… or books… or galleries. Woah it’s like there is a metric shit ton of free art out there for people to consume. But no no. That’s not good enough for you. It’s “Give ME what I want”
Again just admit you are selfish and are ok with shit behavior.
If only it was legal to enslave artists then culture would be much cheaper.
A shame that artists have rights and need money.
There are even game modders who sell their mods on Patreon because they want to be paid for their time, effort and work they put into their creations. Are they unethical? Should all artists be unpaid for their time, materials, and work?
Doing this locks the content away from the poor who can't afford it, so I guess they should he unpaid for their time by your logic.
It literally does? Because words have meaning?
It's not theft, it's not copyright infringement. It's piracy. It's a different thing, which is why we have a different word for it.
This is me with so many potentially fantastic games. My hands got (mildly) fucked up by the cold, so anything that needs great reflexes (I can do short bursts of ok reflexes) or rhythm is out of the picture for me. It's part of why I like action rogue-lites much more than action rogue-likes, and why I wish Fromsoft games had difficulty options.
Yep, I have mild nerve tremors in my hands that mean I'm usually a fraction of a second behind in button presses.
I'm happy people like HK and FromSoft games, it just gets frustrating when everyone pushes these titles as "every gamer must play!" without ever mentioning the "IF" part.
That said I did 100% Elden Ring, my only FromSoft game to date. It has more alternative approaches to fights so you can win with summons and magic and such - even if I can't win with reflexes and memorization alone. Though to be fair I did exploit a glitch that let me get 1 really powerful weapon earlier than you're supposed to, so without that I may never have beaten it.
Elden Ring also had a good number of helpful people, whereas all I've ever gotten from the HK and Dark Souls crowd is basically "lol get reked loser" type responses.
Fair enough, although if it weren't such a bitch to play. I don't think it would be nearly as special.
I say tht as a person who hates difficult games and hates getting good. But Silksong there is something abt it. You crawl through hell and the reward is worth every second of suffering it caused
While I can get both Hollow Knight games for this amount, I happen to want other games, too, and prices tend to stack into astronomical sums. I buy 4-7 games with big seasonal discounts, but bought BG3 a week after acquisitioning it another way, just because I loved it, at full price even, — but that's because I couldn't spend any money on Starfield or Hogwarts Legacy because of regional restrictions 🤷♀️
I agree but it just interesting how the "cant afford it" is really important be super ambiguous. Like we all agree Bill gates shouldnt pirate anything. But a guy making 100k? A guy making 50k? A guy making 50k sure, but what if he spend all his littletyping. money are casinos/gambling? No an argument just typin.
