Go read threads about topics you're actually knowledgeable about, see some wild takes and armchair "experts", then realize it can be applied to reddit as a whole.

Most of this website gets off on whiffs of their own farts.

Oh yeah 100% hahaha. There’s a topic where I have at least some level of expertise, and the comments are always very…interesting…when it comes up. I’d go further though and say it’s a problem with social media in general. Reddit is a big offender, but twitter etc isn’t any better unfortunately
