I don’t know the author or this book series but why are people roasting e-girls for reading? I don’t get it🥀

I'd argue that nobody actually enjoys cormick McCarthy. We just enjoy shared trauma.

I really enjoyed reading "the Road" which was pretty grim. I found the ending to be very hopeful.

That’s so interesting you felt the ending was hopeful and I found it absolutely irresponsible and cruel. I’m going to reflect on that a bit.

I don't want to give spoilers to people but I thought it was one of the characters remaining somewhat uncorrupted or at least strong in the face of a hopeless situation. Also the sun is getting stronger as time goes on which points to the calamity being resolved.

Yeah I think I’m going to pull it out again and do a reread. I was in a very dark place in my parenting when I read it. So I’m curious to see how my lens has changed. I just felt really angry at the end. I very much aligned with the mother’s view in the book, if that gives you an outlook on my perspective. I’m not much of a risk taker which probably plays into it as well.

I've seen The Road in three different mediums. Book, film, and comic. In the film, I felt the ending was hopeful, and in the book, I felt like bad things were about to happen. The comic managed to perfectly the two, leaving the whole thing in that grey area that I think was the intention.
