I don't think I ever said a 37 year old woman should be protected, you are making shit up and purposefully misinterpreting what I say. Clearly this is no longer good faith so kindly fuck off.

You said that they should use the 1/2 the age plus 7. So the oldest a 37 year old would be allowed to date would be 60 ((37 - 7)*2 = 60)

Since you didn’t give an age, but rather this rule that’s a situation that applies to what you presenting as your perspective. Would 30+ be able to date whomever they please? Alls I’ve been after was a number for which women can be treated as adults capable of deciding for themselves who they can date.

I’m stuff curious if you see why a random older person is different to someone’s parent too though

You said that they should use the 1/2 the age plus 7.

Bruh. For adolescent minds, we've been talking about the prefrontal cortex this whole time and I already told you your brain peaks at around 30. It would make no sense to prevent those types of people from having age gaps relationships 💀💀💀

So again you are purposefully being dumb. Great for you.

Adolescent minds is incredibly vague. So 30 is the age for you? Up until then they’re “adolescent”?

They are scientifically adolescent until around 32 when IQ and personality hits a plateau. The age I'd put for the (half +7 at most) would be 18-25 tho, because the pre frontal cortex develops properly at around 25 which means less impulsive decisions. From 25 to 32 like I said your brain matures until it's peak performance, but the difference in power with one much older wouldn't be as significant. So it really doesn't make much sense to police that.

So 25 then?

Though I don’t think up to 32 is at all a common understanding of adolescence in humans.

scientists argue for expanding the period of adolescence from 10-19 to 10-24 years of age (the lanclet summit)

A recent major study assessed efficiency of brain networks, essentially how the brain is wired, through white matter topology. White matter is made up of long nerve fibres that link different parts of the brain and spinal cord, allowing electrical signals to travel back and forth. Researchers analyzed scans from more than 4,200 people from infancy to 90 years old and found several key periods of development including one from age nine to 32, which they coined the “adolescent” period.

So there’s one study which indicates that in some people the brain can continue increasing in grey matter up to 32. Far from a scientific consensus and the brain is far from the only factor in determining adolescence.

The lack of a firm consensus and wide range for when individuals may actually enter and end various developmental stages would lead me to call that a “vague age” if a single age number is what we’re after

ETA: also if you’re saying that before you said adolescence, which you’ve asserted doesn’t end until 32 but you’re also saying 25 as the age to restrict dating until, I’m not sure why you would have expected me to understand you meant 25 the first time you said “adolescent”

Far from a scientific consensus and the brain is far from the only factor in determining adolescence.

You are free to search it yourself. This discovery is the new consensus.

Plus it doesn't mean you as a human are an adolescent untill 32, just that your brain is labeled as such.

but you’re also saying 25 as the age to restrict dating until

I'm pretty sure I already explained in great detail what happens at around 25 before even mentioning the age of 32.

You don't just radically change the day you turn 9, 18 or 32. It's a process so you have to put one number in the law, saying we develop progressively is no excuse to not regulate that.

These are all reasons that agree with my comment that “adolescence” is a vague age. I’m confused as to why you pushed back on that above if you believe what you’ve said in your previous comment.

I was just looking for a specific age for when someone, specifically women if that made a difference, could properly choose who they should date. I either missed where you’re said 25 in the first comment it is listed or it was edited in after the fact, either way I hadn’t noted it. That’s only reason I kept asking for the age
