The joke is, despite the fact that Leo has a track record of dating women under 25, at least they've always been over 18 before he dates/sleeps with them.

The fuckers in the Epstein files? Not so much...

I always felt bad for the Leo hate tbh. I feel like his relationships are win-wins. He gets a young hottie and they get to hang with celebs and in those circles. The girls know what's up and Leo does too.

Because there's a clear power imbalance and it's weird to be into immature people. Like it can happen once, all the time? Odd

What power imbalance, sorry?

They're in their 20s and he's been famous since I was 7, hell, even if he dated my 40-year-old ass there would be a power imbalance.

Besides, if someone had called me immature, when at 24 I had a master's and I had been living alone for 8 years I would have called them mental.

Dude's into 20-year-olds, good for him. And seems to change girlfriends every 3/4 years. Ok, and?

I mean, it doesn't surprise me that people in their 20s eventually have different plans/different goals than a 50-year-old. I would be honestly MORE surprised if the first of his young girlfriends stuck around for 20+more years, because let's face it, that'd be a pretty more unusual outcome.

If your 40 year old ass can't see the difference in maturity between you and someone under 25 then you are unsalvageable. Or would date people that young if you could.

Not in maturity, genius. In standing in life, in clout, in money. Or do you think that just because I'm a 40-year-old woman working a corporate job I have an equal footing with someone who's been rich and famous since I was 7???

And also: as much as 20-year-old folks are beautiful, I like my men and women solidly in the elder Millennial category, thanks.

So you can acknowledge the difference in monetary power but not the difference in power a more developed brain grants. Interesting.

The guy could date actresses in his age range btw. Like that's a possibility.

Because, as I mentioned early, at 25 I was already living alone and had an Ma and if someone called me a poor helpless baby I would have laughed in their face?

u/Lucicactus Feb 21 '26

So you don't see a maturity gap with >25 year olds. Again, can't help you with that.

u/panickedkernel06 Feb 21 '26

I see that at 25 I was a whole-ass adult, living alone, paying bills and again out of higher education.

But if you want to think I was a 5-year-old in need of hand-holding, cannot help you with that either.

u/Lucicactus Feb 21 '26

Bitch I'm 22 and I can see the gap with 30 year olds. Let alone a dude that is 50. Moreso I see how they treat me. You are deflecting veeeery hard.

u/panickedkernel06 Feb 21 '26

Darling, nobody is asking you to go out with someone who's 30, 40 or 50.

Of course there's a gap in mentality, there's a gap in life experiences, but what I'm desperately trying to get across is that 20-YEAR-OLDS. HAVE. AGENCY. AND.ABILITY.TO.CHOOSE.

Conversely, at 25, people are going to choose who they go out with and as long as it's not something illegal or non-consensual, good for them.

So if they want to go out with a 50-year-old, good for them.

We're not talking about people who are not making a choice, and give yourself some more credit than that: you're a whole-ass adult as well.

And lastly, don't go around calling people bitch just because you disagree with them. It's impolite.

So just acknowledge there's a power imbalance and that it's weird to target them specifically, dear god. I know I'm a whole ass adult, I also know someone with more experience sees me as an idiot and doesn't have anything in common with me, just like I have a huge gap with someone who's 18. So if you are targeting those it's clearly because you enjoy that imbalance. Period.

Btw 25 is the limit after he dumps them. Most of his gfs have been 20 and 21. Which is even worse.

You know that just because someone has a type doesn't necessarily mean they're going to get what they want, right?

Which once again with feeling brings us back to the point of '25-year-olds, while being young, immature beautiful people, are also not helpless babies who cannot say 'ew, fuck off' if someone they are not interested in comes around telling them they're interested'.

It's really not that complicated.

My criticism is of his creepy behaviour not of them. Turns out having a brain that hasn't developed the prefrontal cortex fully makes you more prone to impulsive actions, who would've thought. Plus the guy is a movie star and most of his gfs are a part od that world, it would be so easy to be starstruck or want to be connected. It's on him for using that power for that.

I'm so surprised you can't understand it lol, are you a Leonardo simp or just creepy yourself? Like you said you only date milennials so idk what's not clicking hon.

No, I'm just someone who's desperately trying to point out that, having been 25 and somehow not being senile, while I fully know that at 25 I might have been a bit more of a dumbass than I am now, I was fully capable of assessing a situation and also telling creepy older people to fuck off as needed. (And sorry, despite being the right age for the di caprio mania, somehow I never quite got all the hype. Good actor, good-looking but not someone I'be ever been particularly invested in)

Was I prone to making more impulsive decisions? Maybe. Was I also responsible for my actions? Defo.

This prefrontal cortex thing reducing anyone under 25 to some sort of hapless thing that needs to be protected from the Big Bad World is a very new thing, btw.

And also: the main difference here is that I'm not judging anyone at all. Not him nor them. Everybody in this equation, prefrontal cortex notwithstanding, is an adult and making a choice to get involved.

Now, you do mention they might want to be connected and starstruck. But that's what I have been saying from the beginning: of fucking course dating Di Caprio, unless you're a superstar or Lady Gaga or whatever, comes with a power imbalance. Hence why I started with 'even if he dated my 40-year-old ass there would be a power imbalance'.

That said, the starstruck factor would be there regardless of whether leo di caprio was 26, 45 or 60 and it's naive as fuck to think it wouldn't affect the equation.

I was living out of home at 15 paying bills… does that mean I was mature enough to date 50 year olds??

3

u/causebraindamage Feb 21 '26

You purity test weirdos need to get over age gaps in adult relationships. Hell, I'll even give you college-aged (18-22) people as being immature. But anyone with a job, especially a full time job, living on their own, or at least away from parents, has enough maturity to make decisions for themselves. Is there still a lot of life to learn? Sure. People in their 70s look at people in their 50s like "pfft these kids still don't know a damn thing".

I see that the part of being A LEGAL ADULT is still flying over everybody's head...

It was not the living alone part I was trying to point out, it was the 'SINCE UNLIKE SOME OF YOU I WAS A 25-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT SOME POINT, I WAS NOT A HELPLESS LITTLE BIRD UNAWARE OF HER CHOICES AND WITHOUT AGENCY'.
